Being put in Bronze is a shock...

I've noticed something since the start of the new season and as I have only played during season 4 I don't have much experience with this phenomenon. I've been a silver player since i was ranked last October. I drift up and down Silver elo and have never been in Bronze until i went 7/3 in my placements and got Bronze II. I didn't think there was much of a difference between Bronze and Silver; however, since playing in this elo i have won 8 out of 18 games played.

Never in my life have I experienced such a negative and toxic player base in any game in my life. I have loved this game and have fun with my teamates, but the level of toxicity in Bronze is unreal. I haven't had a single game in which everyone was focused on winning and doing their best. Honestly, I don't want to play the game anymore because people are just too harsh in solo queue. Even if I do fine or even dominate in lane I have very few options for helping a 0/5 mid or bot lane. Heres my match history for before the season restart: http://i.imgur.com/PHZLZhX.png and heres after i was placed in an elo that i don't belong in: http://i.imgur.com/29SoN7L.png

Can anyone explain this to me? I know Bronze is bad but is everyone like this? I don't want to stop playing Ranked because of it.

The issue you're seeing right now stems from the absolutely terrible rehaul of the MMR system which caused a lot of gold and plat players to get put in low silver and bronze for God knows why. These are people used to being grouped with other players who are actually trying to win, people who know what they're doing, people who don't AFK or DC during ranked matches regularly, etc. Many of these people are also newcomers who had never known Elo hell and who, through misinformation, were taught that it doesn't exist.

Now they're experiencing it. Here's the deal: If you're a troll, you'll wind up in bronze. If you leave games, you'll wind up in bronze. If you DC or AFK often, you'll wind up in bronze. If you're the kind of person who picks champions you've never played before in ranked, you'll wind up in bronze. If you're the kind of person who pushes your opponent under his tower then whines at his jungler when he gets ganked, you'll wind up in bronze. If you're the kind of person who's AFK when the match starts until minions spawn, you'll wind up in bronze. If you're the kind of person who starts feeding on purpose or other similar behaviors when your team takes a last hit from you, you'll wind up in bronze. All the worst of the worst winds up in bronze, and these people can single handedly lose games for their whole team. Gold and plat players are not used to dealing with this bullshit.

At least maybe now some people will stop pretending Elo hell doesn't exist.

It's not that you don't belong in that elo, it's that Riot made the ranks more competitive. They want Silver players this year to be better than the Silver players last year.

As for the toxicity, I was always told that every elo is toxic.

Well I do not know what to say really.

On one hand it was only a matter of time that you would be placed in Bronze. Usually in the new seasons people can expect getting an entire league underneath their playing ability. Its nothing personal but especially this season Riot is tracking down and making sure people do not get carried to higher levels of play. (not saying you got carried, but right now it is harder to stay in the same league)

That said I have been here since pre-season 1 and before people were completely ranked. I was in the 0-500 ELO for a while and really even the best of players can get stuck there because of their hidden MMR. It only gets worse, as your rank is now lowers all your teammates have less percentage of really contributing to the team. But if you get on a winning streak then you have to carry the whole team in order to get out of the bronze area.

ELO hell is a real thing and everyone Gold and up pretty much ignores it.

So anytime you play a match there is one thing that helped me make it out of there:

DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY

It is sad to say you might need to lower you expectations, but in many ways ELO and Hidden MMR are very similar to the ranking system in Star Craft 2. If your skills rise too high and you still have a high loss rate you will be playing silver and gold people on the enemy team. But as long as you can keep your wins higher than your losses you will always progress.

Also for some reason if you play a certain character a lot and have a lot of success with them. the system will find players that have great percentages against that certain character. It also looks like from that pic that you have been playing a lot of Nasus. You might want to consider diversifying and only playing him when you have a clear counter, as usually top lane is all about the counter pick and trying to deal with it.

Same thing with your builds, its good to find what works but diversity is always a better choice in the long run.

Give it time and I am sure you will make it higher than you were before :D Everyone gets into a rut every now and then.

One of the many reasons why I don't play ranked, that toxicity isn't worth it. I'm surprised that it hasn't lessened though, you would think that Riot's chat restrictions and other bans would have at least cleared out some of the trolls, but the problems seems to be getting worse over time.

This seasons placements were a huge screw up. I have never place a set of more frustrating games in my life, until that is, after my placements. Now it is nearly impossible to drag these teams to a win.

I've actually stopped playing ranked for the time being, i mean you can go ahead and check my game history if you like-you can actually see how much input and effort i put into carrying my team as a support. However i am forced to mute 3 people on my time and attempt at forcing my way back to where i was back a season, it just isn't fun anymore. Ranked was fun previously, but on top of the balancing issues and the whopping twenty champions that are played in ranked just ruins the game.

The thing is people seem to be worse intentionally in ranked rather than normal. Sometimes people troll in normal, sure, but people in ranked tend to dc more, suck more, and plain out rage more.

I actually shouldn't be in silver. Not silver III at least. Silver I, maybe. I was made to play with a friend, who insisted we "play ranked over and over" because a "pro told us to". We sucked. Hard. I said "I'm not doing this anymore, we're not ready for this."

3 months later, I decided to play my last 4 games, and I won most of my games, and landed myself not in bronze. Had I not done my other 6 games prior to that, I may even have been a gold, who knows.

The reason bronze is bad is because it's a bunch of people who are simply not ready to play ranked. Wait until 200 wins in normal. 400 wins, 500 wins, what have you.

A diamond player i know was placed in bronze, he won all 10 0f is games to.

He actually quit a few games after his promos because of it, Bronze is just a terrible place to be.

Juggernaut6281/30/2015, 1:56:23 AM1 votes

Why did Riot do such massive nerfs to Promos? Last season I went 4/6 as my teams are just as your second screenshot through every one of my games, but I got Silver 4. I have already lost my first promo and refuse to do another without a duo partner, but I'm not feeling hopeful that I'll get a good league.

Oh you mean when people feed and then complain at you when either you aren't "helping" them or when they 1v5 you?

Zamiake1/30/2015, 2:08:49 AM1 votes

Its like that. Im subjected to this shit cause the exact same situation. Im no longer spending any money on riot and im on the verge of quiting and find a game thats literally better. Maybe i'll move on to smite or something. DOTA is shit in all of its exacution so im not going to that. So smite is where im going next. Maybe it will actually be good over this trash heap

Why would you go to summoner 11 ? Hehe bad puns.
