Just an idea...

I think that new champions should be disabled for ranked for at least 2 weeks before being available in ranked. There are too many people trying new champs that they know nothing about in ranked games and costing their teammates match after match. This at least gives time to learn a new champ before just jumping into ranked and ruining someone's win streak etc.

How about instead, they simply require you to play a champ maybe 5 times in any Normal, or 10 in AI matches before it's available to you in Ranked?

I know this might tick me off once or twice when I try to use something else, but only slightly.

and after 2 weeks all the ppl who play only ranked games will play him for the first time or play vs him for the first time it may reduce the number of time this happens but it wont fix the problem

I think the decision to make champions cost 7800IP on release was to help fix this problem. Its not a bad idea though.

This could also prevent players from getting essentially easy LP when a champion happens to be over-tuned on release.

I saw a month at the very minimum. I shouldn't have to waste a ban on a new champion in the hopes that someone doesn't try out a new champ in ranked for the first time or the enemy picks them and played them on PBE extensively and are good with the champ.

Edit: Or up the number of bans allotted to team captains from 3 to 4 (which Riot should be doing anyways due to the influx of champions since S1).

I don't feel very strongly about this, And there's a very simple reason why.

Climbing the ladder in ranked, is as easy as winning 51% of your games.

It's not any more or less difficult than that. Teammates sometimes throw reguardless of the champion they play. Picking on people who are playing new champs, Such as some certain attitudes I received yesterday for playing Gnar in norms even, Aren't something people should be reinforcing.

If I look at your match history man, I highly doubt that over 50% of your games have been thrown by a certain champion or role to some grievous extent.

P.S. And also as someone else mentioned. The 7800 IP Increase is something that is in part helping to resolve a large number of players playing champions they are inexperienced with.

A more important issue that your idea fixes is giving us time to learn how to play AGAINST the new champ before facing in ranked. People always waste a ban on the new champ no matter his/her power level because no one knows what to do against them. On a similar note, the new champ could be unbannable in normals for x# of days?

As a counterargument;

  1. They're really only screwing themselves over if they're unfamiliar enough with the game's mechanics that they can't adapt to a new champion within the confines of said mechanics (i.e. playing safely, farming, etc.,) and playing that champion repetetively. You only have to play one game with that person, they ARE that person.

  2. You and your teammates should be playing the game as usual, too, keeping in mind that your teammate is playing someone new that both enemies and allies don't really know how to deal with, the former being an advantage.

  3. There are people who have no problem understanding a new champion's mechanics right off the bat.

  4. I play every day, almost all day, and I play ranked almost every and all day. That being said, understand that despite it being ranked and therefore more competetive, it's still just a game.
