One of the many problems with Yasuo

As you can tell from my username, I'm an avid Yasuo main. Unlike many people though, I don't defend my main to death. Other people's comments honestly make me feel somewhat ashamed XD I'm definitely not in denial about the many design flaws he has. One of them bugs me so much, I'm gonna bring it up right now-

His static build path/itemization, god dammit.

He scales ridiculously hard with a few stats, and doesn't scale at ALL with others. Crit chance has double gold efficiency on him. Attack speed makes his Steel Tempest faster along with his attack speed. His E scales with bonus movement speed. His ratios are really good considering how much damage he does with plain auto attacks, which turns him into a squishy AD crit-machine dash-machine auto-attacker caster...thing. Anyways, this makes his midgame power spikes and general scaling with gold exceptionally good. However, there are only a handful of items that give these stats, and the others are absolutely useless. The only decision you make when you play this champion is whether you buy BoRK or BT, and that's SOMETIMES considering you can go both most of the time. Like every bruiser item(which his playstyle is honestly meant to be) is useless to him because they're not nearly as gold efficient. item 3071 , item 3025 , item 3065 , item 3142 are just a few examples of would-be good items if their price didn't go into CDR or even mana. With such a small item pool to pick from, it makes it pretty boring. Is there any way to change this? Would he be way too strong if he could buy these items?

What Riot should so is remove the crit part of his passive because it is completely unnecessary and they should make cdr work on him. They were trying to be waaaaaay too fancy with him that they failed to see how constrained he is.

They don't want Yasuos picking up CDR because they really really want to keep Wind Wall's cooldown static and predictable.

Well honestly though, if he can already build cdr to reduce it's cooldown, what's the point of them INTENTIONALLY restricting the diversity of the champion. Remove the movespeed and attack speed or whatever the fuq cooldown reducing stats he has and make them all only reducable by cdr. This lets him make very good use of black cleaver and youmuus, but it also makes him not have as strong of ad to 2-shot you with 2 q's.

The point is that if they allowed Yasuo to make full use of CDR, he'd be a teamfight and sieging monster. Wind Walls every 8 or so seconds would just be a fucking nightmare.

And that's before we even get into what CDR would do to the goddamn dashing.

Well both the cooldowns on the dashes(on-hit and actual) are static so CDR doesn't touch it You're right about wind wall though, but would riot really make an entire pool of items useless because of one skill?

I'd say you either let Yasuo get CDR for everything, or you lock him out of it entirely.

They appear to have chosen to lock him out of it.

Idk, he kinda reminds me of an adc, just build differently, basically every game you rush shiv into ie, (boots somewhere in there) and then you have 2 options, botrk if they are stacking hp, if you need to not be kited, (say a vayne on the enemy team) or if you need strong dueling potential. 2nd option, is of course hydra, this is very rare nowadays because of the tank meta, but still viable on rare occasions when the enemy team is squishy. Then after these you have another 2 options, last whisper and bt, pretty self explanatory there. now for the 6th item you actually have 4 options, ga, banshees, omen, or another damage item. I defiantly think riot needs to do something to his kit, I don't know if removing his double crit is the best way to go, if they did he would need heavy compensation buffs, heaavvvvyyyyy because it would remove the "assassin" part of his kit, and basically make him a below average fighter with on par dueling. and if they just straight up removed it without compensating him equally for the loss, I would stop playing him, he is already weak enough. average winrate with yasuo in ranked is under 50%, unless you have ~125 games with him. And im a yasuo main too, so its not like im blowing wind out my arse ;) Also, forgot to mention that bt can be third item if you are fed, and need to carry hard.

Sadly feast or famine melee ADCs are generally lacking in diversity. They're just meant to deal a ton of damage. He's not the only one that's struggling with this problem IMO.

I think Yasuo has the potential to be the an melee ADC with unique game play. It's just really hard to make an melee ADC work if they aren't doing a ton of upfront damage right now, but I think Riot can pull it off and I've seen great ideas posted around the boards, especially surrounding Yasuo that isn't just mindless buffs to damage. They're going to be reworking a similar melee ADC in a few months, so hopefully it's a step in the right direction.

I literally only started playing this game cos my brother showed me yasuo, it was only about a year later that i realised any chance of him having multiple ways to play has and will continue to be completely shafted by this stupid idiotic 2x crit chance. I would have MUCH MUCH MUCH preferred him as a more early game fighter along the lines of renekton, sadly, that doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen. Hell he could be a jungler (not such a fan of jgling) for all i care, anything is better than the smack-you-til-you-die-from-mah-crits-RNGesus playstyle that is already fulfilled Tryndamere
