im thinking of download a lol skin mod.. a lot of my friends are using it? the question is can i get banned for that?

Maybe. Skin programs are a grey area, it's entirely at your own risk.

Yes you can get banned, I wouldn't recommend it, not worth the risk

Riot's automatic system knows the difference between a custom skin program and an actual cheat. Skins are perfectly legal.

And the coding was modified to prevent people from adding their custom skins on the first place. Obvioisly they wouldn't want people to mess up the game by bringing their own skins or modding the game to unlock all skins on a champiom's basic look. If it was legal or allowed, then why would people bother buying skins on the first place?
