Let's Talk The ADC Role

Hey all, I really want to get a good discussion of the ADC role here, as a way to provide constructive criticism to the Rioters who may read this. So let me make this concise. However, just want to point out this is an opinion.

Soo, I see a lot of posts about ADCs and how over powered they are, and I'll be honest, I laugh. Whats so funny you may ask? Great question! This is becuase the standard board post goes a little like this.

  • ADCs are so overpowered and should be nerfed (Insert some gold refrences to build cost etc.)
  • They can face tank assasins and burst them faster And soo on

After I read there example of how one of their last blind pick games went, I head over to their account, and suprise suprise. My mans built full damage, and not once built to oppose the damage of the carry.

People say things like "Oh they do so much damage and there are no good items" For crit ADCs, just build Ninja Tabi, Bramble vest, Randiuns Omen. You dont have to get them all, but these are the three best items to get. Also frozen heart too. This relates more so to a tank or bruiser. Lets talk more assasin and mages. For them, you can build things like Zhonyas, Ninja Tabi etc. (Note this is only for Crit-AD champs, I will get onto On-hit shortly) You with these resistances and good positioning, and not being significantly behind, will allow you to get alot of damage off onto the ADC.

Now lets talk On-hit champs. These champions do a lot of mixed damage, and the best items to counter these are Bramble Vest, Frozen Mallet, Spirit Visage. Most of the champions that build On-hit, lack mobility. Take Advantage of this. Kog will want to get autos off, CC him and focus him down. Or position correctly to allow you or carries to get the kill. For mages and assasins, you should look to kill them, by flanking or good positioning in teamfights.

This post was more to tell you the many ways these champs are countered, and to put the point accross that you cant complain about ones damage, if you dont take any action yourself to prevent it.

Now onto some of my opinions. Lets firstly talk Ninja Tabi. I myself am a draven main, this items fucks me over so hard, so when i see people complain about draven one shotting, build this, and dont give him 10 kills in 10 minutes. Because you lost lane to a good draven so they snowballed hard does not make him OP, it means you need to play the match up better. Also getting kills is what he needs, so just dont die. If you arent confident, just farm and wait for jungler. Personally, Ninja Tabi should have the passive reduced, this 10% is insane against draven, as his damage is pretty much only AAs with the ult for AOE or Snipes. Some adcs barely get affected by this, like the On-Hit ones, or champs like xayah, due to there damage also coming from abilities or is Mixed.

This part is to you riot games. What kind of changes to you have in mind? Maybe something to reduce the armor early, and buff the passive later. Or maybe get rid of the passive in place for something more healthy. Also, state of ADC, do you believe they are strong in this current meta, personally I don't as there is many ways to counter them, you just need to play your cards right and build accordingly.

Thanks for reading, lets discuss.

Just wanted to clarify, the problem isn't with the adc role as much as it is with the marksmen archetype. Marksmen are just too strong right now and completely crowding out any other archetypes in the role.

I have to agree, I have no idea why people think adcs are overpowered atm, there is a few adcs that are broken right now, but besides a few culprits like Xayah the rest of them are either okay or even in bad shape.

I think it is because the meta shifted to earlier teamfights and shorter games, and ppl arent used to seeing adcs out of lane so early, and also because of all the ganks and roams bot, ussually the botside ends up onesided, so one side ends up with an op adc while the other side ends up with an adc that is far behind. And sometimes that can backfire aswell, because if the team feeds their bad adc, he might not be able to match when the better one makes a comeback.

Not to mention the chance to strong carry as an adc is very minimum. You are mostly relying on your team or matchup more so than any other role, thats my opinion anyways.
