I'm level 20, looking for help before I hit 30 and start ranked play.

League of Legends Match History

First off, I am almost level 21. I can tell you that my gameplay has definitely improved since I started playing a few months ago. I went from playing while WoW was on maintenance, to playing this full time. I've improved on buying the correct items for each champ, stat selection, positioning, etc.

I'm not an easy target anymore, and I know I play pretty decently (at least in my opinion). Where I used to overextend or get killed by towers or not ward or ping, I've fixed all that. The problem I am mainly concerned with is a few things that I know are essential in any ranked gameplay.

The issue I seem to be having is champion diversity, and a few other things. I would not say I am a "one trick pony". The issue is that; I play a couple champs alot more than the other ones and naturally, I am more skilled with those.

Champs & Roles I play (Champs I OWN. I play some I do not own but, I will buy a few to add for diversity. I will mark those with a * for reference)

  1. Support: Soraka Sona Fiddlesticks (labeled support secondary, played a game w/fiddle last night, did not go well)
  2. Fighter/Top lane:Nasus , Will more than likely purchase Yasuo , and Jax, however I have Never played them.
  3. Assassin:Fizz (*), Nidalee (average at best), MasterYi (good if I get fed),
  4. Mage: Ahri (decent at), Annie (horrible at), Anivia (need to learn, seems powerful w/cc), Fiddlesticks (crappy at), Lux **Definately buying, I LOVE the playstyle, **Morgana (Played first game with her, can tell she is powerful if I hit my snare but it seems that the build I follow is heavily focused on building resistance to either AD or AP heavy teams, rather than building AP herself to increase shield amount/ ability damage output. I prefer offensive gameplay and the build I follow seems to be alot more defensive. Following the "Default final build" http://www.lolking.net/guides/274532)
  5. marksman: Teemo . I really need help here, extremely short on champs in this range. Considering ashe because she seems to be a default ADC. However, I need at least 3 of every role IMO or otherwise I am just shorting myself.
  6. Tank/Jungler: Warwick . I need other champs here that I can play. I do not like amumu. I prefer champs that have good self sustain, because I seem to have trouble in the early jungling stages because they don't have the healing that WW has.

Any champion suggestions are greatly helpful! I need champions that are generally 1350 or lower, because I'm not sure how much IP I will get between now and 30, and I'm currently out of work so RP is not an option.

Two champions I think I'm going to buy above 1350 : Irelia KogMaw

Another issue I seem to have is overall map awareness. I am used to WoW's arena style positioning, with League it feels alot different. I am focused on pings or chat for awareness, and whats going on in my general area. I'm usually watching preparing for ganks or potentially dangerous situations, etc. However; I know its important that I keep track of my teammates positioning, and health, along with my enemies location. How am I supposed to keep track of all this while watching out for my own safety? It's really hard for me to focus on last hitting, pushing my lane, keeping the enemy back, while watching everything else around me.

Those are generally the issues that I am concerned with. If you would like to see a video of my gameplay if it would help to overall give me better tips, I would be glad to grab some freeware and record a match.

Also, here is some music for those that took the time to read my post. (EDM, Chillout) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koPaxr3xDD0&index=22&list=FLkVr1KSPsmzYtBLGg8H22Xw

Your innocence brought a glimmer to my eyes :')

Please don't play ranked or you'll hate this game. You have so much to learn young padawan.

Just because you candoesnt mean you should. You'll make it harder for yourself to climb by slaughtering your elo. Add me and I'll help you out ;)

Adc: Draven (easy to use difficult to master) Support: Janna Jungle: WW, Yi, Jax Top: Renekton, alkali Mid: don't even bother

I'd have to disagree with you on some points. Draven is not a good choice of an ADC to learn. While it's true that he has a high skillcap, and will grow with you, his patterns are very different from other ADCs, and require different, and non-transferrable skills. Personally, I would recommend Jinx. Though quite expensive (6300), she has a reasonable skill floor, and high skillcap.

Top/Jungle: To save on your IP I would suggest buying champions that are suitable to both roles. Examples include Jarvan IV (my personal favorite champ) and Aatrox.

Mid: Get Orianna. You will not regret it. Orianna is... so impeccably designed in every way. Enough said. Plus she can support.

Please don't just jump into ranked, not only will it screw you over near permanently, you'll start hating the game and people are pretty mean. Either way, don't jump into ranked until you learned enough to tell whatever skill the opposing champion is using on you and it's damage/CD :o It helps a lot to know more champions.

To find the best builds, skill orders, runes, and masteries use

www.probuilds.net

It just takes recent games from high level solo queue. They're guides only written by high Diamond or Challenger level players. If you want the best guides use:

www.lolpro.com

You don't need three of every champ to play ranked. It's better if you just play a few champs at a high skill levels than a lot of champs at a mediocre level. For instance, on my EUW account I played over 100 games of Tristana and Zyra, making up about 1/3rd of my total ranked games. On NA I played almost half my games with just Sona and Zyra.

Varus is technically the easiest adc to learn from a mechanics stand point. That's all I really have to offer you though beside telling you to not worry about your lack of diversity. Lots of players have mains and they're better with those mains than other champions. The idea is to take mains that can thrive in different situations. As an example I have two main toplaners; Cho'gath and Gnar. Both have strengths and weaknesses, and both play differently in lane.

As for map awareness that takes practice. Something you can do it train yourself to use your trinket every time it's up. It's a ward and a ward= vision so as soon as it comes off cooldown find the best place nearby to place it (unless saving it is worth something).

My suggestion would be to find some youtubers who play league and watch them. You will be able to see champions played in at least competent hands, and get a better understanding of them than from watching teammates play them, which should help you decide, and find champions with a playstyle you like. It would also give you the added bonus of seeing how more advanced summoners play. If your interested. here are some channels you might like:

https://www.youtube.com/user/Anklespankin -relatively high-ranked player, is very good about explaining why he does things in-game

https://www.youtube.com/user/SolitaryWolfXD - again, relatively high-ranked player, who's main thing is playing non-meta champs or building champs or playing them in a non-meta way (AP ashe for example). Very good for learning why itemization acts the way it does and learning odd strategies for champions you would never really have to if you played them the regular way. Just get used to skipping to ~25 seconds every video.

https://www.youtube.com/user/thetekglow - posts gameplay from very high-tiered players, mostly lcs players and streamers from what I can tell.

As far as map-awareness, it is more or less practice. the more you play the game, the less you have to focus on last-hitting and things like that, which will allow you to take small amounts of time to look at the minimap. I wouldn't worry about any of your teammate's health in the sidebar unless you are playing a champion with a global ultimate, as even if they are ganked, there is nothing you can do about it, it is information you don't really need. The minimap is really all you need. If you are moving down to help an ally which is being chased, you will have your screen on them anyway (unless you play with a locked screen, which I advise against). For the most part, the only reason you would need to look at the sidebar is to check if your teammates have their ultimates up (the green circle next to their picture). Hope I was able to help!

Edit: I don't know why the links I gave show videos, but they link you to their page, not a video.

I'd like to add to what you said, and say that Foxdrop is a very helpful youtuber that has really helped me learn. He's primarily a jungle main, but he talks a lot about the game as a whole, and over all is a very good resource.

Also, Nightblue3 Is a challenger ranked streamer, and is extremely educational. If he's not on when you want to watch him, just look at his past broadcasts.

Hope I've helped! :)

The guide is for a support morgana not mid if thats what you were looking for.

Basically don't play ranked until like a year after you've hit 30. It is probably the biggest mistake i have ever made in this game. Honestly most people who just hit level 30's are not good enough to play ranked yet. This is because they have not quite learned everything. Just watch streamers play and soak up all the information they are giving you. Finish your rune pages and get champions bought. I played ranked as soon as i hit level 30 and got b2 and fell to b4 because i had no idea how to play strategically and not be toxic. Now after around a year of being level 30 i might be able to carry myself to silver.

As a suggestion - get a few of the cheap bundles (the ones with the starter champs, etc). Then, I'd say play to 200ish normal wins (and maybe 50ish ARAM - it's good for building your champion repertoire) before you even attempt ranked. Seriously, do NOT jump into ranked!

INTER5TELLAR1 votes

Also, focus on getting runes over champions until you have 3-4 full pages dedicated to very specific sets/styles.

Boy you are going to have a reality check in coming in about 4 levels. Your not going to be ready for ranked when you hit 30. You are not even keeping up with runes and from your low tier choices you do not understand rune choices to begin with.

To make a good rune page(without help), you need a deeper level of game mechanic understanding. Find someone to copy off of and get 3 basic pages made.

Your champ choices show a major weakness in your play style. Most are snow ball champs where either you are a head and win or your not and lose. Nasus farms till he can one shot, ahri tries to 1 shot, jax farms til he can just out dual anyone, Yi ... and the list goes on. You do not seem to have any real team oriented champs. ** Do not buy kog, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY KOG. He is heavily immobile and is falling right into your current play patterns of roll or do not roll. **

Your logic for morg is quite off and worrisome(lack of game understanding).

you will not be ready when you hit 30 to play ranked. If you do, do not be surprised if you land in bronze.
