Why is Ranked Smurfing allowed?

Why is Ranked Smurfing allowed? Doesn't this fuck up all of the math involved in matchmaking? Think of all the games that a given person SHOULD have won, but for a smurf on the other team, and the games they SHOULD have lost but for a smurf on their own team? Both happen sometimes, but no, it's not 50/50 and it's NOT fair. How is someone supposed to know what rank they really belong in if SO MANY people are smurfing all the time? I just started watching some high level player streams and some of these people just make account after account and systematically shit all over the matchmaking system every single day in this manner. WHY is this ALLOWED?

Streamers are fine if it's to be informative to their viewers and such. What I don't like is shitty plat riven smurfs calling everyone bad and trying to be as BM as possible

how would you know if someone is a smurf account? or they just started playing ranked? how would you know that if you dont know the person you dont know nothin they couldve been taught by high ranking players you never know

It sucks and all, but how are you gonna stop it? How is Riot going to stop it? They don't have the time nor the resources to police IP addresses for smurfing.

Plus what if there are multiple people playing on one IP address. Banning the second one from ranked isn't fair.

because there are so many games played that it doesn't matter anyways. And the fact that its a team game so one person being better doesn't actually matter unless they are vastly superior when in most cases the players are not. and there are not alot of people smurfing that are good enough for it to matter. Tbh the skill level is so wide since so many people are in the lower elo's that it doesn't matter what rank you are unless you are higher than diamond. Otherwise all the players just blend in anways its like looking at a shit that is normal vs a shit with corn in it whats the difference?

Ranked is about improving and measuring your progress, not giving you a 'fair' chance to win any given game. Even if that was the goal, statistically the smurf will be on your team just as often as on the enemy team regardless of whatever confirmation bias you are experiencing that makes you claim its not 50/50.

Winning games even if someone plays better than you is not something the ranked system puts the highest value on. If a high level player starts playing ranked later in a season than you do and so plays a few matches with you as they rank up to diamond, you don't get any retroactive bonus LP when they actually reach diamond out of some 'fairness' idea.

It's about impossible to enforce against it.

I mean, who says multiple people can't play from one IP? If you're talking about banning all the streamers, well, there goes the entire game. People follow streamers, drum up interest, etc...

You have the same chance of getting them on your team, it doesn't matter.

Can't really enforce it. Sometimes is not too hard to tell though. Hardly any normal wins, few ranked wins with no losses? Crazy k/d/a stats? And you say you are not smurfing huh?

Most the time you can't tell but sometimes its pretty obvious.

Idk if this makes sense but I always thought it would be cool if someone could pay RP to have a level 30 account and have it linked to their main account. Have access to your champions on your main account, but have elo reset. In the end it probably doesn't make sense and Riot would miss out on RP. Would have to make linking accounts like $40-$60 in RP.

Pros:

  1. New lvl 30 account with mmr reset.
  2. Have access to champions you already bought and runes.
  3. Since accounts are linked, players could see what account the smurf is linked to.
  4. Since your accounts are linked you cannot troll because both accounts could be punished.
  5. People are going to smurf anyways, at least this way some would not be hidden.

Cons:

  1. Low interest from the community.
  2. Potential RP lost from smurf boosts and champion buys.
  3. People will still smurf the old fashioned way.
