What Percent of Losses Are Completely Out of Your Control? As a Single Player

I know these forums are filled with salty anecdotes of bad teammates so I will try and avoid that. But this has been my number one problem with League since I started playing ranked the past season.

In my opinion, if a player losses lane so badly that it essentially throws the game, that means the matchmaking didn't do its job. It means 4 players had a terrible experience and they get punished because one person was matched in a game where they didn't belong. I'm not talking about bad players just losing their lane, I'm talking about Garen supports dying 5 times in 6 minutes, an other ridiculous stuff I see when Riot tries to end my win streak.

Just thought I would add my 2 cents... I typically play this game in spurts but I honestly have been so turned off by this grinding system that I don't plan on playing much next season. I enjoy the game I just despise the matchmaking system, it seems to be a better metric of patience and grind rather than individual skill. I also think its odd "Matchmaking" isn't a board... arguably one of the most important aspects of ranked

I've grinded ranked ever since preseason hit but it's not fun anymore. I went from S5 to S3 in a week or so but every time I'm on a winning streak I always end up getting an Ezreal toplane or Draven mid and I've even gotten a first time kindred. One of the reasons i saw was "Its preseason so ranked doesnt matter" 60% of games are out of your control and the other 40% is when you get a normal team who doesnt flame/afk or feed which is a rarity in low elo.

It definitely is worse in low ELOs. My motivation for grinding out of Bronze was the hope that Silver would "filter out" the undesirable variables, but it seems to be far worse. In my recent ranked losses I've felt that I had great games and was frustrated the matchmaking essentially gave me an "auto loss" based on the matchups.

Its a shame because I enjoy the game, and don't mind losses at all if its a fair matchup. It just seems as if there is far too wide of a skill gap within the same ranks at low ELOs. If Riot really cares about the "flaming" and stuff players do, they should look at the matchmaking, which I promise is the number 1 cause of unsportsmanlike messages. If they want everyone to say "GG", they need to improve matchmaking to give players a GG.

According to most people, 100%.

Frankly, I wish there were a lot more games where I could lose and say 'We could have won if I had done A B or C'.

Instead I'm often times looking at solo laners who have fed 15 kills by 10 minutes, I don't even have one item as an adc, and I'm thinking "I have no idea how to salvage this mess."

I feel like this varies per lane. When I play top I notice it a LOT more. But when I'm ADC I notice it less because I don't chimp out and play safe the few times I lose lane.

Any matches that you can't carry is totally out of your control including the ones you got carried in. It doesn't matter if you can "hypothetically do better" because hypothetically doesn't translate into real results.
