Should there be more items like Hunter's Machete? Items that require summoner spells...

Anyone else thought of the possibilities? I'll start with Clarity. Turn it into a single target spell and lower the cooldown some, then make an item that could damage enemy champions with a portion of your champion's excess mana . Archangel's staff and Manamune are expensive, a lowered cost in gold while requiring Clarity could make it more appealing, or not... just brainstorming here!

no. Now your gating items just to gate.

Smite is tied to machete item to keep non junglers from picking them up. This was a major issue in season 3 where all the strong jungle items had to keep getting nerfed cause top laners would pick them up. Jungle items tend to be super gold efficient since the jungle is a poor mans lane.

Other lanes do not have income problems to the items can be at full cost.

I agree, i think having items that interact more with your summoner spells would be a GREAT idea. Make it feel like your choice of spell comes down to more than "X has no flash, gg".

It would definitely be interesting to see more summoner spell mods, but it would likely take on a different form than item 1039 and its upgrades. The advantage to Machete and summoner 11 is that they're both fundamentally tied to the exact same role (so you're not going to purchase either of these unless you're going to be jungling), so it's relatively easy to tie them together into a jungler item/spell combo. If you take any other summoner spell, though, it's going to be a lot harder to tie them to any single role: sure, {{summoner:2}} is a support-y spell, and supports generally tend to pick summoner 3 , but neither spell is really support-specific, nor should they be, so tying in summoner spell bonuses to the three support item lines wouldn't really work. The same could apply for marksmen, and then afterwards it falls apart because no other class is tied to a single role in the game (mid and top laners can be practically any class with any summoner spell combination, and can adopt any kind of strategy, so there's nothing you can really pin down as a common element).

The solution to this would perhaps be to just have some general items mod summoner spells instead of offering some other unique passive or active. One example could be to make item 2049 or item 2045 modify {{summoner:2}}, putting aside the problem of extra vision on Ruby Sightstone making the item likely to bring back the vision wars from Seasons 2 and 3.
