Rek'sai Survey

I got an email link from Riot last night asking for feedback on the game. I thought sure, why not. The survey largely seemed to focus on Rek'sai and after I finished the survey I got to thinking more. I bought Rek'sai with IP as a matter of course, since I own every other champion in the game and I don't have anything else to do with IP except wait for a new champion to come out. I hadn't messed with Rek'sai at all but having seen a bit of her in games she appeared to me to be intimidatingly complicated. I decided to watch the champion spotlight and look at her a bit more closely.

I stopped the video about halfway through and determined that I'd likely never play Rek'sai, largely for the same reasons that I don't play a fair number of newer champions that are introduced to the league. Rek'sai's gameplay appears to be monstrously complicated. I remember when Rengar and Khazix were introduced and I could never get the hang of those champions because of increasing complexity in abilities despite playing them in a number of bot games. It seems like a ridiculous thing to complain about, but the fact is that unless I can gel with a champion after a few bot games, it is going to collect dust.

The recent champions that have been introduced to the league seem to highlight these problems. While I understand that lots of players will enjoy the challenges that are presented by increasing complexity, older players such as myself who are faced with slower reflexes are probably going to avoid playing these champions. Personally, I would like to see newer champions not have increased levels of complexity so that they are accessible to everyone.
