I don't understand the thought process that lead to these changes.

Dark Harvest: I understand that you wanted to make it more useful for champions outside the select few that used it before. But this is literally just "Oh, here's some free damage". It doesn't fit with any other rune. I don't get it. What's the design philosophy surrounding this decision?

Turret Plating: Cool concept, terrible execution. Turrets seem to have LESS health than before. The plates offer little resistance and only serve to grant extra gold for pushing someone out of lane. My understanding was that it would break once, then buff the turret MASSIVELY, making it much, much harder to take down than a turret with it's plating intact after the 14 minute mark. Otherwise it just seems like another tool to end games quicker, which is super pissy.

Beyond that, literally none of these preseason changes address any of the issues that have been plaguing the game for seasons. I'm sure you're all tired of hearing DAMAGE IS INSANE, but it is. It's out of control now, honestly. There's been offensive options upon offensive options upon more offensive options. Where does it end? At what point do we have enough sticks to beat each other with? Does it even matter that so many people find the game unfun? If not, what's the point?

I hate the fact that I spent so much money on this game, because now I'm stuck with it. I can't quite quit, because I have this account with a ton of skins on it so I'm deeply invested. But you guys don't really deserve the money right now, tbh. I don't see Riot engage with the community like they used to, and it's gotten to the point where I wouldn't either, because we're all pissed off and we're tired of it. We're tired of asking for changes, and getting other changes that fly in the face of everything we say is wrong with the game. Tired of the instagibbing. Tired of games being decided by one single lane before the timer hits 15. Tired of champions being overtuned for several patches without the slightest HINT of any response by Riot. Tired of other champions getting nerfed when they're so useless they're basically a troll pick. It's exhausting. It's time to stop the whole "change for change's sake" shtick and start changing the game with the intent to FIX SHIT

Because there is no thought process. It's about throwing shit at a wall and see what sticks.

Yeah those "buffed" towers actually makes them more food for others to be fed

Read the sunk cost fallacy my friend. Don't think you're ever stuck with something, especially if it isn't good for you.

Riot needs to get rid of Ghostcrawler and the balance team if they wanna fix this game. Ever since the man who ruined WoW himself joined, this game has gone downhill. People even called it when he joined Riot, saying that he would ruin the game. Flash foward a few months when PreSeason 8 was introduced, and this game has gone to shit since. Fire Ghostcrawler, get a new balance team, nobody on the balance team deserves their job at this point. People have been complaining everyday about the damage snowball rng games happening, and Riot still has yet to address it.

Nothing they do makes any sense. I'm actually baffled by the lack of logic that goes into the changes. The entire community has been asking for less damage across the board since this season started, and Riot has done nothing. It's ridiculous.

Ever look at a landfill? Ever notice the amount of cars there are just lying there, broken? Ever think to yourself the thousands of dollars someone must have spent to have once had one of those cars only for it to end up at the dump?

LoL is kind of like that. A car we all want to trade in for something better so we can get on with our lives no matter how much money we may have put into it. Because something that's broken beyond a paid professional's ability to repair is literally garbage.

Also when people say games are too snowbally and quick for an individual player to have a decent impact on solo q, they hardcore speed up minions and make respawn timers on all objectives a minute faster?

These changes can't be coming from people who play this game.

So far I've found that turret plating is good for, y'know winning lane. Since plating, I've also haven't seen a single situation of the thing turret plating was meant to solve. For the unaware, it was to prevent 4 man shoves on a lane that kill a turret. Now, I rarely (if ever) see someone able to shove a tower down before plating is over. If they are, it's because they continue to shove the lane and force the enemy out, which speaks more to player skill than the game's problem.

Haven't really noticed turret plating gold unless I'm a solo laner able to repeated chunk down 3+ plates. Duo lanes I notice a bit but like I said, it's rare to shove down a lane. So in my experience, they've been successful in preventing the actual problem people had (4 man turret shoves for First Brick at 7 minutes) while still letting you get bonuses for being good in lane.

Dark Harvest needs way more work though. Old DH was too bad. This one is too strong. Probably make it so that it's not nearly as easy to stack. Just make it so it only stacks on single target spells/autos rather than....well anything. Super hilarious to get stacks with something like Brand DoT or Twitch DoT though.

I can't help but agree with the Turret Plating change concerns. It seems to work against the goal of extending the laning phase.

Now if someone gets an advantage in lane they can chip at the turret for some quick gold and extend that lead even further. Whereas before you could struggle in lane a little and still be fine as long as the tower had 1HP left as the laning phase ends. Before Plating every point of health on a tower was worth the same as any other as long as the tower was still standing. Now not only do you get punished for not being able to keep damage off the tower, since your opponent gets additional gold, but the high damage that certain runes add to the laning phase (especially in the early levels) makes it even easier to get shoved out of lane by someone who just a little better.

If the goal was to extend the laning phase to give champions that like to farm more time to do so, the Turret Plating should have just been a straight buff to the turrets and shouldn't award additional gold at breakpoints.

As I have mentioned in other threads, you dont understand the thought process because your still under one rather flawed assumption, that their thought process is first and foremost about 'balancing' the game. Recontexulise everything, dont assume its about balance, its clear its not. Riot got a MO of message from up top and that was to shift priorities and it seems to go as followed.

1.Create and encourage content and game-play that is interactive and engaging to watch for outside viewers (Twitch,Youtube,Worlds)

2.Keep the game in a decent enough state that enough plays are retained to keep 1. in effect.

3.Create skins and content that encourage monetisation for both those who play and those who watch the game, encourage cross interaction with these people through deals (Twitch Chromas, World Missions and so on).

4.If none of the above are negatively effected, balance the game and champions in a way that everything is fair and fun, but only do this if it wont effect 1 or 3.

Then stuff starts to make more sense, people jump up and down, champs like Irelia and Akali get untouched, Duskblade is untouched, New damage runes, damage creep, Plating is just free gold on towers, Yorick getting nerfed. Its not about keeping the game balanced, its about making it as watchable as possible. That is why Damage is untouched, Towers get crappy plating (Flashy plays and snowballs are fun to watch), Irelia and Akali are left alone (Flashy), Yorick is nerfed (Split pushing is boring to watch), and guess what, its working, League is topping Twitch, Worlds were huge, it wont be changed, this is league now, for the watchers, by the players, and until it starts effecting point 1 it will stays the same, flashey kits will override balance, damage will creep, everything will one shot everything. Its not a game balanced around the people that play anymore, its balanced around the people that watch it, and they can get away with it, because they have a dedicated audience, because there is thousands of people exactly like you who hate the game but cant walk away, they have their audience institutionalised, they know people wont leave, they wont go, no matter how much they fuck up.

You dont understand their though process because your thought process assumes they are trying to make a game for the people who play it, and its clear that's not the case. Its why i walked away at this point, this is not a case of wonky balance, its a intentional designed decision, and that is fine, but dont except us to hang around then, im not here to slam my face on a keyboard so that you can get that Twitch dosh and neither should you.

I don't mind that Riot makes mistakes. What I do find strange is when a change is generally negatively received that instead of going back to look at it they just keep making new changes. Although I wish I had actual statistics on how many people do or don't like a change, I'm mainly going off what I see on boards/reddit.

Seems like here we are more than a year from lethality being implemented and I'm still not sure why we needed that, or why they keep nerfing tank health, or what scrying plants and honey plants add to the game, or why infernal drakes can close out games all on their own.

I get that the game needs to change, but I want them to address and update changes that have already been made rather than continuing to add new ones while the stuff already in the game isn't working that well.

Totally agree on turret plating too. Played a couple of games with it, is a really weird way to punish people for having to leave lane.

Rengar Virtuoso11/23/2018, 6:18:30 PM3 votes

All they have to do is revert DH and take the gold income away from the towers and make the plating ACTUALLY PLATE THE TOWER and give it more 'tank'. They wanted to make it to where people behind can play the game out easier, then ACTUALLY DO THAT.

Spacesuit Spiff11/23/2018, 9:10:14 PM3 votes

I'm resigned to the fact that we're never getting league back. Uninstall for a while, a 1v1 or PvE game will seem like a great breath of fresh air.

just quit the game. thats how riot keeps people playing their shitty game.

they make you spends thousands of dollars on a "free" game and despite all the stupid changes they do and scandals they do, you will keep playing due to how much time/money you invested.

plenty of better games out there. just dont play league for a week and ull notice ur anger and frustration levels will go way down. then throw out he game.

Lcs is bigger business now. They don"t care about players anymore, just want lcs matches with 100 kills in 20 min. Viewers love it.

HÔPÊ11/23/2018, 2:56:12 PM2 votes

Yeah. Just wtf is this new Dark Harvest. I was abusing it the whole S8 and at the end of the season it was finally balanced. So they fkn reworked it xd

Regulas11/23/2018, 3:24:28 PM2 votes

Turret plating is meant to prevent laning ending before 10 minutes, not to extend laning past 15 min. If I gank right at 5 min and we tripple push before it would be a tower down right away, not instead we get some gold but have to back off before it will fall.

Heck even at 11 minutes with an early herald I've seen a tower withstand death where it would have easily fallen before.

Dark Harvest: Obviously overtuned, but that's the only real issue here.

And in this season comebacks are now a real thing. This is the best thing ever! Before if one team got behind then that was it, it was now 15 minutes of waiting for the game to end. Now? with the high bounties if you win a fight you can recover enough to actually have a chance.

OneMustFall11/23/2018, 5:21:57 PM2 votes

I'm loving the turret plating changes. They addressed a huge issue with a jungle/solo lane just FBing a tower after they dive and kill someone past five minutes. Now I can back and not have to worry about losing my full health tower by the time I get back to lane. It's a great change and Riot should be applauded for the work they did there.

Espy Psyche11/24/2018, 12:27:41 AM2 votes

The solution to this is to bot. Make smurfs and use a bot to play them. Don't buy anything on these accounts, just use them to waste server resources without giving Riot money.

imfoolish11/23/2018, 8:56:36 PM2 votes

Told everyone that new dh was stronger then old dh because u can proc it as early as lvl 1 without any stack. At least with old dh u have to work for u stacks and have a 30 sec period before it expire.

fattybob11/23/2018, 9:03:31 PM2 votes

Snowballing is worse than ever.

Talh11/23/2018, 6:31:28 AM2 votes

I agree. Damage is completely out of control. And the games are over with too soon to actually play the game. I remember the days where most games I would get to 5th or 6th items and need to win a big teamfight to end the game.

Now, I usually have 2 or 3 items when the game is finished. And I don't remember the last time I was in a REAL team fight.

Heos0011/23/2018, 7:36:02 AM2 votes

Once upon a time a 5v5 strategic game in the new MOBA genre, who used to be like a ''real time strategic chese''. Now it's like a bloodbath everygame without 0 strategy and everything does a stupid amount of damage with 0 reaction time, the lane strategy was almost killed and game strategy and the late game were just murdered. Wtf?

Also painful to play for adc's since games are always a 2 item games and kiting isn't relevant now.

PowerSlave99311/23/2018, 10:59:09 AM2 votes

When will people understand that Riot doesn't care. Or specifically, China doesn't care. They want faster games > more profit to their game because of internet caffees and because of LCS flashy plays. LCS brings more money than the whole community here that plays and unfortunately buys skins.
