Urgot support a.k.a "Supgot".

Hello Summoners!

Around two weeks my greediness for [ S+ ] scores has risen (had enough of only [ A+ ] all the time), bringing me to work on a prototype build for Urgot (my main) as a support (my main role), to creat the abomination I call "Supgot". This "abomination" caused a small argument between my friend and I about what a champion needs to be a support and why Urgot can't support. His major points were CC, helping the ADC and defending the ADC. My counter arguments were that "Supgot" had normal CC (W's slow) which could slow an enemy for far away with his E,W,Q combo and hard CC (Ult suppressing and slow) that can ruin an enemy tower dive, start a tower dive, punish enemies who are taunting you right outside tower aggro and more. "Supgot" can also help the ADC in four_ish_ major ways (I came up with):

    1. "Supgot" is a bully, poke support! His laning phase is his time to shine! In level 2 his E,Q,Q,Q combo can make the enemy waste potions, heals and can even make them back, which causes them to loose farm and can grant you ADC kills.
    1. "Supgot" is a Dbag support! When his AA or Q hits an enemy their damage output is redused by 15%, so the enemy ADC will have hard time last hitting minions, making him lose gold.
    1. "Supgot" can change trades! Like I said before, his passive reduses enemies damage output. We all know that sometimes the ADCs will go head to head just cause, your passive can make the enemy deal 15% less damage and this could win the trade. I know 15 is not alot but think of it like that, Ashe and Ezrael are fighting, Ashe has 100 damage per strike and 800 HP, Ezrael has 80 damage and 900 HP, both have the same attack speed and they attak at the same time exactly, Ashe would need 9 hits to kill and Ez 10. If "Supgot" was with Ez, Ashe would need 11 hits, meaning that Ez would have killed her.
    1. "Supgot" can reduse armor! His E is an AOE ability that reduses the enemies armor, damages them over time and makes his Q a lock on ability. This part I don't need to explain, less armor more pain.
  • 4.5) The damage over time could sometime get you a kill that got away, the ADC won't be that happy but it's still a kill. The last part in his argument was defending the ADC, which I don't fully agree with. Of corse that defending the ADC is importent but not that much of a deal breaker. Look at Zyra, she can't really defend the ADC but she is still a support. Bard isn't alot in lane to defend th ADC, he has his ult but that's all. "Supgot", unlike what my friend said, can protect the carry somewhat well like most supports. his ult can stop dives, Jhin ults, MF ults, reduse damage output for Zed uld and more. "Supgot" is somewhat kind of a tank anyway so he can take damage for the ADC. His passive reduse damage! what's the more to say about that? I'm not saying that "Supgot" is flawless, he has flaws which are mostly in the build and masteries but I'm yet to discover them. I haven't played much of it because of my own reasons.

Thanks for stopping by and reading, had to get it off my head. Hope you enjoyed reading, I want to know what you think about the topic and have great day! R.I.P old Yorick... item 3070 item 3070 item 3070

Urgot is a scaling champion. He needs gold in order to be relevant. That's why he can't be a real support. The closest champion I can compare him with is Trundle.

Trundle can be a support because he is relevant even with a low gold income. His damage doesn't scale as much since most of it come from his Q, he has an extremely reliable CC that can deny almost any gank or force flashes and secure kills, his passive and ult allows him to trade and provide the frontline his ADC needs to protect him while he does his damage. This means Trundle can also build supportive items like item 3401 item 3190 item 3222 or a item 3025 for peeling without losing relevance.

Urgot can't afford those items without losing too much. He needs the damage to stay relevant or else he's gonna be left in the dust.

Support Urgot is one of those bullying support-ADC combos that pretty much has to win lane or it's going to be a detriment to your team in the long run. There's always a danger when playing a high-scaling, low-utility champion in the role that provides the least gold on an entire team, because if your lane can't gain an advantage you fall off pretty hard and aren't as useful when building utility items as a meta support would be. His only real form of peel (his ultimate) is conditional on him throwing himself headlong into the fray and likely getting himself killed.

Urgot in particular has one glaring weakness as far as his supporting goes. He's notoriously mana-hungry to the point of needing to build a tear, an item that's quite expensive on a support's income with so many other items needing to be bought as well in the early game. While the spellthief's line (which a support urgot should definitely take) can mitigate this somewhat, he'll have to at least pick up Frostfang before the bonus mana regen comes into effect, leaving him incredibly mana-hungry before first-back.

Looking over your match history, you seem to have run Supgot only once recently (possibly more further back, but I haven't checked), and I'd recommend switching out your keystone for thunderlord's decree. It's what I use when I run support Quinn (generally only when I just want to mess around with friends) and provides extra early game damage to empower his harassment. It's also particularly easy for Urgot to proc as all he has to do is land his e followed by two q's, which is easy since they'll auto-lock. Also, as nice as FQC is for scouting purposes I'd recommend building Eye of the Watchers unless you plan on building several items with active abilities. It costs less gold than FQC and sightstone while still giving decent stats and allows you to begin working on other items quicker, since you'll need items to stay relevant (it also makes you actually get a sightstone, something you lacked in your last Supgot game despite having had the gold to acquire it).
