Who counters irelia?

I would have to disagree. I basically never have trouble with Olaf unless I play really dumb. This is only usually won if an Ilaf can effectively land a Q and do quick trades. Yes he can be invulnerable to the stun but that is assuming said Irelia is relying heavily on the stun for winning.

The best ones are the ones are the ones who can compete with her sustain. Among which a passive is among the best but is vunlerable to getting shut down by ganks. Be warned that you will want to rush Frozen heart for the attack speed slow and and higher armor over IBG. More damage does not matter if you are dead.

if being used well is a headache and he does potentially scale overall better into late game.

if you really feeling like an asshole. It can be dealt with but it is jsut such a pain in the ass to deal with that it might tilt a lot of Irelia players.

If you are good with Quinn this is one of the most champs ways to deal with Irelia.

Most Irelia players will have some degree of trouble with Renenkton. Irelia is really not going to start rolling until level 4 and before that she is really not that powerful. Renenkton is however a time limited advantage.

While I have not played against any since Trinity lost Crit that was not the part of his kit that made him hard to kill as Irelia. He still eats an orange and it is K. He can still place barrels and chain blow them up for poke and slow. He still can ult bot lane while in top lane and get an advantage that way. I would have to say this is a skill matchup more then a counter though.

He has the tanky stats, the CC and the sustain to make Irelia have a really rough time. That which does not kill you only makes you get more health and bigger.

General notes to help contend With Irelia

1. avoid being next to your low health minions if you can . That is a easy way for Irelia to get trades in and be able to chase with Bladesurge when you start running away.

2)Irelia is still fairly vulnerable to ganks. If you can manage to bait out Blade surge Irelia has no real way out other then flash. All but her Ult is single target meaning that she is not ideal for a 1v2 unless already ahead.

3)Outside of Top consider trying to get a or some other champ with good peel. I did not pick up Janna as my backup champ for no reason in past seasons. When Irelia was being picked by the other team I would pick janna since I know Irelia has great sustained damage with a decent amount of burst but it is not burst in under half a second meaning there is time to react unlike a fed Rengar.

4. Irelia still does not have any % health damage built into her kit. This means that Items like Omen are the overall best counter to her since most of her damage is physical with some true. Pure tanks are still going to take Irelia a while to kill if they are building tanky.

5. worth noting is that more and more Irelia players are now maxing bladesurge second. This makes her far more sticky and less about her "2 second stun". Better for Team fights and less idea for 1v1 or 1v2. Being able to catch up to an enemy every 3.6 seconds with 40% CDR is really effective especially mid game but at a cost of CC.

I am not going to even deny that Irelia is too strong currently. The Trinity changes were needed for several other champs but Irelia was already doing fine without them.
