Cant believe this but, Riven needs a early game buff. Her late game is fine, its just extremely hard getting there when so many top laners counter her. Pretty much fall behind and your useless all game. She doesn't needs a Ad buff but a sustain buff imo. Like Buff her hp a little or maybe a little more armor early game or something. She is just way to squishy early making her easy to get killed mostly get tower dive. Yes i know riven is a high skill champ, but legit mostly every game she feels so weak in lane. Its very hard to win vs sustain champs like trundle, garen, irelia, renekton, tahm and etc.. if you get killed at least 1 time by them its mostly game over top lane making riven useless all game unless somehow u can get into a 50+ min game and get all her items. Riven is just way out of place in this season. What you guys think?

Bringing tanks down off their power pedestal (nerfing grasp and easy tank itemization).

Reverting Rivens ult nerfs.

Giving easier itemization for early CDR and armor pen.

Going by past history on the boards, they are probably talking about fighters and assassins who build defensive items.

So many people can't even tell the difference between a durable fighter and an actual tank.

well.. naut is an actual tank and he's a huge part of the top lane meta right now

naut can outdamage riven without buying a single damage item, and since he's going full tank and has a massive fucking shield, he pretty much takes 0 damage even from a squishy full ad riven.

Nautilus beats the shit out of Quinn in lane, and then outscales her massively in utility.

Nautilus has very few counters in lane, if any, and counters a lot. He is still one of the single best top laners in the game right now.

GEE, that seems oddly unfair. Boy these new tank masteries sure are swell.

In all seriousness though the state of tanks is out of control. Evident by rammus of all people currently being the best top laner in the game.

I miss being able to make a difference and having real impact on the game without playing beef cake top laners.

Rammus does too much damage, that's a thing too.

This just ties in with tanks being in a much too powerful state and really overstepping the boundaries of their role.

Rammus returns a portion of your damage back to you. If you're squishy and deal a lot of damage, it'll hurt you a lot.

I'm aware. The % damage you're delt back is too high, and punishes you too severely for doing well.

Rammus' ult damage is also far too high.

With a Rammus on your team you know you can stretch out the game simply just because of his damage and utility.

There really isn't any reason for so much reward to go to players who just play beefy and ultimately very safe champions.

Where is the Risk vs Reward anymore? Everyone just plays low risk high reward nowadays because high risk champions continue to just become low reward.

It's a low risk because you literally gave him the all you can eat buffet if you send a full AD team after him. He is a counter pick champion.

The moment people stop bringing Quinn and Graves top like no tomorrow will be the moment he starts to have less prevalence.

Irelia's E is pretty dumb yeah. At the very least it definitely shouldn't stun equal health targets too considering the length of it.

Also Rammus is less of a counter pick champ and more of an overloaded champ currently. I've seen AP's auto attack themselves to death on him.

His win rate isn't just because of AD top laners being picked. Him and other tanks are packing too much damage, though I feel I'm beating a dead horse at this point.

I'm gonna level with ya. I main Sion . Not because of his damage, but because I just find him very fun overall. All this talk about tanks being OP gets me annoyed because I don't find Sion to be OP and don't like him getting indirectly nerfed because of other tanks.

i don't play top much so my champ pool is limited but honestly? i'm going to become a nasus main. nothing even phases me when i play nasus. just ignore all the trades and farm q, sustain with passive, one hit the enemy laner 15 minutes later.

It's not as fun as it sounds. In low elo you're gonna have to get used to your team losing early on, and because you're Nasus you can't snowball your own lane to try to carry. A stacked Nasus means nothing before a fed Jinx, Vayne, Sivir, Jhin, or Twitch who is properly peeled for.

However, on the other hand, if you are in low elo and you know Nasus well enough, you can rush Sheen -> triforce and get a BT -> spirit visage etc and do the damage of an extra fridge while still be relatively tanky.

It really is, the downside is you need to snowball with it and play aggressive which leaves you open to ganks, watch for the enemy jungler

Imma have to disagree with you bro The champs you listed are her strongest counters and they're all pretty beatable if they play a little carelessly.

I suggest you try Grasp of the undying since I've been having a lot of success with it

I'm also not saying that she's strong rn imo she's still pretty weak but I'd rather be the only one to play her instead of her being op and have the boards cry about her like not too long ago

I agree with you whole heartedly but honestly she needs a bit more than that I think. Riven is in a horrid spot right now and it's sad that nothing significant has been done to address it considering the work that gets put into playing her compared to these other meta champs.

Plenty of other champs can cancel animations. It's an option for them to utilize it to increase their damage output.

For Riven it is not an option, it is a requirement. You want to remove her animation canceling then they need to buff both her base damages and her scalings. If they did that then you'd end up dealing with bruiser tank Riven and you really don't want that.

Sadly its because people only see a GG easymode champ when they see Riven, only Riven players I feel truly understand the work that goes into playing her.
