@Riot Thank you for Season 6, truly.
I really don't get the hate for season 6. Here's why I love it:
-
Dynamic Queue: At least in my elo, it has reduced toxicity to a certain extent, made players think about individual match-ups more, and has made players actually think about team comp. It's one of the best things they've added to the game since I started playing in late S3.
-
Keystone Masteries: THE best thing added to the game since I started playing.
-
Champion Balance: I think people's description of how unbalanced the game is on these boards is drastically exaggerated, and probably comes from anger of losing games and not being at the elo you want (and I can relate; I'm S5). But when I lose a game it almost never has anything to do with champions like Yi, Graves, (insert your most hated adc), or even that jerk Poppy. Most of my losses and yours too have to do with you or a team member(s) playing poorly. You know it's true; stop scapegoating Riot and learn to play better. I'm in S5 and hope to get to gold this season. Whining like a bratty child won't accomplish that; learning to play better probably will. Now one clarification: Is it true that a couple champions are a bit overpowered, particularly when paired with certain items? Yes. Could Riot act a little bit quicker with nerfs? (Think about how long it took them to get GP and Fiora balanced, or make Frozen Heart more expensive <which broke my heart because I buy it often, but it really was underpriced>, or nerf Sterak's. And I'm still not convinced Poppy is un-needing of more nerfs.) Yes, Riot could act quicker. But is there any champion that is so overpowered that picking them with any combination of "broken" items even remotely guarantees a win? No, not even close. You and your team members determine your success. If anything should be complained about a lot, it's toxic players who refuse to listen to simple advice in game. (Me: Hey Thresh instead of going full AD could you grab a sightstone? Thresh: <you know how it goes>) (Me: Hey Ashe, the last 7 times you've tried to 1 v 3 you died. Could you please stop and join the team? Ashe: <again, you know>)

Items: While I touched on this briefly in #3, here's more. When I see the same champions building the same items every single game, they normally lose because your team's composition and that of your enemy's determines what you should build. If you don't adjust your Quinn, Graves, or w/e champion build at least slightly from game to game, you probably have little success when paired against competent players. I like that I can build J4, Amumu, Nasus, Ekko, Teemo, and Quinn multiple different ways from game to game depending on what's needed. This was not the case in other seasons (it use to be do I want BotRK, BT, or Hydra?; Shiv or PD?; and is there a reason not to get GA this game?) and I hope Riot accentuates item diversity with the mage rework and other updates after that.
-
The Support Role: Again, I love it. The new warding items make support build paths so much more efficient, and again, as with other new items and recent changes, add more diversity to support builds. My favorite roles are Top and Jungle, but my third favorite is Support. I love thinking about who to play like this: "Do we need disengage and peel? Janna. Do we need disengage, CC, and AP dmg? Zyra. Do we need CC and a tank? Leona. etc." I never feel like I can't find an appropriate support pick, and I really enjoy playing multiple different champions in that role. Do you hate support because lots of ADCs are bad? Guess what! There are TONS of decent ADCs in every elo who would LOVE to have a decent support they could duo with. I liked an ADC so much as a Jungler that I now play support for him from time to time, and when I do we almost always win. So supports, next time you have a good ADC, send them a friend request and see if they want to play. ADCs, next time you have a good support see if they wanna play. The worst thing they can do is say no or not respond.
-
And lastly, the lack of Solo Queue: Are you upset because there was a group of two or three on the other team? Chances are, there was a group of two or three on your team too. Was there a group of four on the other team? I almost guarantee you that there was a group of four on your team too. And if there's not, hey, if you play smart and do your best to communicate well with your team, you still have a good shot at winning. And, no one who complains about the lack of solo queue likes to talk about this, but for every time you lost because of a group on the other team there was another time where you won because of a group on your team. IF it's affecting your KDA, it's only slightly. And again, you can friend list people whose attitudes or play styles you like and group up with them. For me, one of my favorite parts of League (and, years ago, WoW) is meeting interesting people who play around my skill level and playing together. And, to go further, they might still bring it back. Who knows. I get the sneaking suspicion that most people who are complaining about it being gone are scapegoating it for their lack of intelligent play.
So, thank you Riot for your hard work on season 6. Don't be discourages by all the angry children on this board. It can be easy to forget that for every one of them, there are 2 or 3 or more satisfied players enjoying the game.
And, you who hate everything I just wrote and think I'm incapable of criticizing Riot, no, I hate the new splash arts coming to NA from different parts of the world. They're trashy/sleazy as opposed to sensual/beautiful, and gaudy as opposed to creative.
