You was Bronze V to begin with, did you expect that with new year sins of the past are going to be forgotten?
Why even have the promo games then? Shouldnt it be a way for players who are just having bad luck to get a chance to play with better people based on their performance in these games?

There is no bad luck. You're basically saying you expect placements to be a free card out of bronze 5. I'm sorry but if you ended up down there, you deserve to be there.... And no, you're not making valid points.
Promo games exist for the purpose of cleaning up ranks. if someone is gold 5 with the mmr of bronze because they only lose but arent dropping out due to the normal sytstem, the placement games will be like hey this guy plays at bronze level, and put him in bronze. The reverse is also true, if you are silver 1 but get unlucky in your promos have an 80% win rate but just cant get to gold, even though you are playing with gold 1/2's promos might be like wow this guys gold tier, and place you in gold. Also the 10 placement games are worth more MMR than ranked games afterwards with the first 3 games "I think" being worth EVEN MORE.
However if you were where you deserved to be prior to the ranked reset, the chances of you moving up are pretty slim, maybe 1 division if you do extra well. Most people actually drop slightly from placement games once you get to higher elo. Most plat 5/4s will get placed into gold 2-1 challengers go to plat 1, diamonds go to plat. it's just a system to make sure those high elo players are still playing at that level, forcing them to climb again which should be easy if you really are at that level of play.
why even have the promo games if its gunna be like that? Wouldnt it be more fair to put everyone in bronze 5 ad just see who works their way up? or maybe just leave everyone where they are because it doesnt seem to matter how you do in these games. Its almost like, for some reason, you all want the people in B5 to stay there and tilt things to keep it that way. (MR rating)
I don't know why the rage. It was established seasons ago that even after a reset, the placement is still heavily dependent on your previous rank. Reasons? I don't know, but it has always been that way since way back in season 3 reset. To me, it's like you don't ask why cars drive on the right side, or why red light means stop, etc.
No dude, you are both just ignoring my valid points with no reasoning. What is the point of having the promotional games if it doesnt matter how well you do?
It does matter. Just not significantly. You do need to take into consideration that everyone is dropped a few tiers in reset(That was publicly announced by Riot) due to the master/challenger tiers reset.
If you are a good player and don't deserve where you are, it should be easy to climb up.
They aren't 'promo games' they're 'provisional games'. They're trying to place you, at best, slightly under where it estimates your skill level is at in order to force you to prove you deserve that rank by climbing up. It has to keep some portion of last seasons mmr in order to track your performance against players of various skill levels in the provisionals. You'll get a higher rank going 6/10 vs players who were diamond last season than against players who were bronze last season. That's just sensible.
and if you think im raging, its only your own perception becuase I feel it is totally reasonable for me to want to know why. Its not like im sitting here swearing riots name.
I only won 4 of my games and was placed b4. If you really think you aren't bronze you will be fine and rank up. It's not hard to get out of bronze at all. Stop crying about it and take control of your game. Bitching about it will get you no where.
None of you make any sense. My points are valid. You say the prelims are to clean up the ranks. Then RESET when you say you're going to RESET. What would be the issue with putting everyone in the same pool and give everyone the same chance? what? because the better players(diamonds and plats) might have to play against good players with bad teammates(bronze and silver)? WELCOME TO MY WORLD! If they are so deserving of their rank then they would have no hard time proving so. I think the whole system is set up to keep too many people from going professional in LCS.
You say the prelims are to clean up the ranks.
No they are not, they are to put people somewhat lower than they were in end of season so we have incentive to keep playing ranked
What would be the issue with putting everyone in the same pool and give everyone the same chance?
We need to protect NEW players from platerados diamondinhos and the like - they have to deal with smurfs anyways. You already proved you're bronze you are not new player you don't deserve any special protecction.
If Riot made a hard reset like you want them too, most bronzies would quickly end in bronze anyways, and diamondinhos would get to diamond just as quick - proven thousand times by "bronze to diamond in x days" streams. Only for few months ranked would be painfull for anyone, especially new players. Not worth it.

Because putting diamonds / plats against bronze "which is the vast majority of the playerbase" would be a terrible idea. It would create extremely unfun matches for anyone in any of those games aside from the plat/diamond player who would be destroying every game. The ranked system works, if you arent where you want to be it's because you arent that good yet. Focus on improving every game rather than blaming the "faulty" system. It does work.
