TIER 3 RUNES ARE WAY TOO EXPENSIVE AND TIER 1 & 2 RUNES ARE USELESS!
So the other day, I got into Akali, I really like her and am considering maining her. I played a lot of normal 5v5 games with her before considering ranked, so I go prepare by creating masteries and runes just for her. The masteries were fun to make, but the runes on the other hand weren't. I planned to have Greater Quintessence of Spellvamp x3 (2050 Ip each), Greater Seal of Energy Scaling Regeneration x9 (820 Ip each), Greater Glyph of Energy x9 (820 Ip each), and Greater Mark of Hybrid Penetration x9 (820 Ip each). All these runes have a combined cost of 28290 Ip which definitely not cheap and maybe even a waste of time. With this amount of Ip, I could easily get up to 29 champions. In order to get this much Ip, it would take me 283 games (assuming that I'd get 100 Ip from each one). Since the average summoner's rift game is around 35 minutes for me, it would take me about 9905 minutes / 165 hours / 7 days / 1 week worth of gameplay to get this much Ip. However, when you consider the fact that I only play about 5 hours of LOL each day, then it would take me exactly 34 days (Just over a month) to earn enough Ip for this one rune page (excluding the cost of the additional rune page). Another problem I see with runes is that nobody (I know) ever buys tier 1 and 2 runes because they see tier 3 runes and decide it's a better deal to just save up for them and wait until they are level 30, so nobody ever gets them. If I were to attempt and solve this problem, I would suggest taking away the tier 1 and 2 runes, leaving just the tier 3 runes which would be available at every level. However to avoid imbalance, the price of these runes would be as expensive as they are now, and as soon as you reach level 30, the cost of every rune is halved.
