Gangplank ult works with Q passive?

I've been thinking about this because sometimes as gp it's been hard to play into a lot of matchups. And when you die you want to avoid the enemy from getting tower procs so Me and I am pretty sure a few other gangplank players use R to prevent the wave from being over clustered. Another reason i bring this up too is because Most of the time its so rare to get all 3 upgrades for his ultimate because sometimes we lack the farm or silver serpents to do so. I hope this idea can get some feed back and tell me your thoughts or at least answer the pole. :)
