We need to group?

I preface this by stating I am low level Silver this season. So, lately whenever things seem to be going awry, my team's course of action is to always spam "GROUP UP!" The problem is, this is often times counterintuitive to many of the characters that I play i.e. Shaco, Quinn, Tryndamere. Also, I find myself being forced to group up as adcs such as Cait, are often trying to backdoor--with no wards mind you--and I am forced to fall in line with the team to make up for the lack of an ADC. Unfortunately, when playing a character such as Shaco or Trynd this is especially difficult because I feel completely useless in team fights or at least not nearly as effective.

Is grouping as characters that are primary split pushers effective at all? How can I communicate my intentions to my team without being thought of as not cooperating/communicating etc.

The phrase "We need to group" is often very misunderstood. When people say "we need to group" in solo queue, it is usually directly after they were caught out (so they are angry that they were caught and don't acknowledge it was there fault) or it usually happens when 2 or 3 people overextend while the enemy team is grouped as 5, and are killed in a 3v5. the problem with "we need to group" is that too often, it's a response to something that happened that affects a person's attitude negatively. It isn't said because it's currently the right thing to do, it's said out of frustration. The person who is frustrated only chooses to recognize that they died because 2 or more people ganged up on him and killed him. He doesn't choose to recognize how his death was caused by his own actions, so instead he chooses to vent his frustrations with a passive aggressive remark that shifts blame to the rest of the team.

mechanics/warding wins bronze.

grouping wins silver

team work and sportsmanship wins gold

congrats, you've reached plat, enjoy "high elo play".

but yea, just getting your team to group in silver is quite the task, you basically need to "ping ask for assistance" 2x or 3x on an important objective or place/area and people will make the effort to go there.

there are some games where your team has muted pings, and it is just impossible to group up, these are practically lost games on your end and will result in a loss most of the time, unless ya know, you're snowballing.

but pings work exceedingly well, use them, most dont, they have no inclination to change their own ranks and they will act and do the same things they've always done, so you have to be the cause to make them do what you believe to be the right thing.
