I really like Vel'Koz but lets be real both Xerath and AP Kog'Maw are better poke champions.

I really like Vel'Koz however there is a slight problem with this champion.

Xerath and Kog'Maw both are better poke champions are have better AP ratios. If you look at Vel'Koz you think he is a good in this tank meta, he does true damage, good waveclear and etc. However there are a few problems with this champion.

  1. Low range on his abilities besides Q and ulti. His E and W are really low range compared to Xerath and Kog'Maw, I'm not sure why his kit is like a poke/siege champion but his abilities don't have a lot of range besides Q and ultimate.

  2. Very very low mobility. I think this the problem with this champion, his base movespeed is really really low like really low. I think a buff to his base movespeed should be higher than what it should.

  3. Passive is really awkward, hard to keep track. Yes it does true damage (not sure why tbh), however it isn't the easiest thing to keep track. Sure visuals really help, however I think the passive should be more "clear" and have more impact. Have a mana regen or a reset on his abilities because after his passive he doesn't really do much.

  4. AP scaling is really low. I think this is why I don't play this champion, his AP ratios on his abilities are really really low. I get it having true damage on a mage is "broken" but it doesn't matter if he doesn't scale. Like Xerath and Kog'Maw scale very nicely to late game, but Vel'Koz just doesn't except for his ultimate.

TLDR; Vel'Koz's kit is supposed to be a poke/siege however Xerath and Kog'Maw does his job better. His W and E need to have longer range, passive needs to be more "clear" and updated in order to have more satisfaction. Base move speed should be higher for un-mobile mage. Also AP ratios need to higher than what they are at this point.

And before "omg i pley vel'koz and i winz lolol u bad". How many times have you seen this champion actually succeed over AP Kog or Xerath?

He's not a poke champion though, he's an AoE teamfight champion, look at his ult and W, its all designed so that he hits as many targets as possible and procs his passive as much as possible.

The true damage of his passive highlights his teamfight role. Since its true damage, its particularly effective against bruisers and tanks, and it shows that Vel should be trying to hit as many targets as possible, rather than nuke the squishies like poke champions try to do.

He has a lot of zone control, damage output and CC. He destroys tanks with True damage, hes not a poke type champion besides his Q which is hard to land.

Vel'Koz is more all-in than both Xerath and Kog'Maw...

His whole thing is CC-ing the crap out of his target and continuously applying his passive in a massive burst.

Because he is not a poke champion, he has the best teamfight potential in all of them. They're not same.

Why do you want buff from Riot to a balance champion? LET HIM ALONE.
