Your matchmaking is shit Riot

Whatever your algorithm is, its never balanced, its either one team or the other rolls over the other and is rarely close, much less ever a comeback, you need to seriously work on it.

They just need to HARD reset it all. So people can be in iron 4 where they actually belong :/

I'm not sure it's the algo entirely. The balance is VERY snowbally right now.

5% damage reduction day on PBE anyone?

Riot gave up on ranked this season, just wait for s10 I guess

I feel like there are a couple of good solutions to this, and a lot of it boils down to teamwork and making sure both sides are equally serious about the game. League is very deliberately and almost by design a game where teamwork is absolutely mandatory, and one seriously underskilled player for the level of play in question can indeed cause a loss when the other team is serious in any way.

  1. Establish better expectations for what is considered a requirement at every level of play. Is there a level of Ranked play, or even possibly draft, where it's just not okay to either not know what you're doing or play a fun/troll build you risk giving up 10 deaths or worse on? It would be great if at least there were some in-lobby messages about Blind Pick normals being the best place to try new things, about Draft being a place for more serious practice, and about Ranked requiring players to bring skill and effective teamwork to the table no matter what.
  2. Possibly require a certain level of champion mastery to play Ranked with a champion. It's just not the place to bring new champs and strategies, but many do. I feel like possibly all ranks should require M4 and Diamond+ might even require 5/6/7. This one is easy, if limiting, and would really force players to yolo less in ranked and develop their skills in normals as is generally best for the game.
  3. More options for players to meet up to train together and/or play ranked flex. The current clan channels are not great, something fullscreen would be better. Discord is filling this role all over League right now but it doesn't make for great in-game options.
  4. Discourage toxic play, which doesn't always show up on a chat transcript but really hurts high-level matches. The person who goes 1/15 feeding literally all lanes but is kind to bits in chat in ranked play (possibly even draft) is really not helping the game. And I'd divide that into two parts:

a. Expand the Honor system and have better rewards for teamwork and more chances for those who are punished to reform and climb. Incentivize the good instead of coming down with the harsh stick. Honor skins, more honor categories - the present ones feel limited, I'd prefer: Skill/Carry Honor Great Team Play Honor Communication/Tiltproof Honor Played From Behind Honor b. Also expand the reporting system. Give Low/Medium/High levels of reportability, and allow the reporting of toxic playstyles that don't show up on a transcript. Someone can be sweet as pie while running it down mid game after game, but the current algos won't prioritize it because they look at profanity and chat so heavily. Possibly even allow for Unskilled reports in high ELO (maybe Plat+?) as trollstyles at that level or above are hurting prospective pro and streaming careers - but don't prioritize that for punishment, instead allow for better warnings and more transparency about how many times one has been reported and why. Prioritize education and healing in punishment in all but the worst offenses, as all players have bad days and most have some tilted games.

agreed, its complete shit. The more wins i get the shittier teams i get while the enemy team is better rounded

Sodeb Lacudomite7/28/2019, 4:23:34 PM4 votes

Yeah it's worse than ever. I've been platinum since season 4 on OCE, EUW and NA, and servers were similar... I had the feeling that whether I played good or bad would influence 80% of the games (with 20% being decided regardless of my performance). This season, I feel like I can influence 10% of games, and 90% are decided by the 9 other players, regardless of what I do I win or lose.

It's just too awful, especially when you invest 1 our 2 hours a day in league, having to work or do other stuff the rest of the time. You want your daily 1 or 2 games to be good. But when they are repeatedly awful because of match-making........ it's just not worth the time investment.

I just play ARAM now. Where I don't care of match-making. I gave up on rank.

Would be interesting graph on the game times. How many % of the game ends in 15-, 15-20, 20-25, 25-30, and 30+ minutes. Remakes ignored of course.

My bet would be the 20-25 minutes the most.

15-: one team ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED the other. The very existence of such game is a shame for matchmaking on ranked. 15-20: one team was far stronger, and the other had pretty much 0 chance from the start. 20-25: one team was much stronger, and the other team had hopeful moments, but 0 chance. 25-30: one team was slightly stronger, or they threw hard. 30+: mostly balanced.

Eonslegacy7/28/2019, 5:37:36 PM3 votes

It's because certain champs snowball harder than others and getting a lead is pretty much based on jg ganks or enemy mistakes not on individual skill. Results in the pyke draven combo getting 2k gold from one kill but the vayne soraka only get 450. It's just certain kits are just significantly better than others that do the exact same things. People don't play the best all the time they play the thing they are best with and it's not good enough anymore. Zed can't carry if the enemy hecarim is also fed. It's just how it goes now.

Razelth7/28/2019, 8:24:51 PM3 votes

I don't think the issue is really matchmaking. The issue is player mentality. Everyone wants to carry the game and never try to play as if they're behind. And when they're behind, all they do is spam FF and stop caring about winning.

The game is fine there are just too many defeatists in this game who flame like crazy when there team is slightly behind.

I had a game that by team was rather ahead , there jungler steals baron we get aced the tempo swings to the other team but we stay calm and keep on playing , we are down an inhib we just got aced again but we converge on dragon for a fight . We manage to secure dragon while acing the enemy team in a pretty close team fight and what does the enemy team do? They don’t pull there pants up and try harder even though death timers where not long enough for us to even push down an inhib or try and scale because there team scale better no they just fucking surrendered like omg game got too hard gotta bounce.

Gamer Life7/29/2019, 3:30:22 PM2 votes

We have been asking for matchmaking to be fixed for year, Riot dosnt care or they for some reason think there no problem

Jennifer4207/28/2019, 9:36:19 PM2 votes

i agree on the hard reset.

feels like dropping down is impossible especially an entire league. going from gold to silver for example is like impossible. which fucks the mmr up even harder. a hard reset would be nice.

and maybe not try to go for an "average" mmr cause thats also dumb. its not balanced to have 1 plat guy + 4 silvers play vs 2 gold players + 3 bronzes. yeah it might make the numbers look average, but its not fair.

VelvetCrotch7/29/2019, 1:38:07 AM2 votes

i just hate it when you have a otp smurf guy in the enemy team which facerolls over all guys of my team and the rest of his team smiles and post provocative sh*t in all-chat like: " haha i have luck to get carried and you noooooot, sUcker. embrace the elo hell i am out. :) "

PotPye7/29/2019, 3:26:14 PM2 votes

Swear they do this shit on purpose. Last night my duo and I are on a 5 game win streak and next game pre lobby our adc is like "you know what... I'm feeling some singed adc." So of course I dodged but it just got worse. Lost a game in s1-g3 elo when our bot lane was bronze 2 and unranked and also only played Aram. Really is a struggle to climb these days when you know eventually you're gonna lose your next 4 games

Crystalysk7/28/2019, 6:05:02 PM2 votes

Remove tower plates for a much less snowball game.

Never needed.

Disembark7/28/2019, 4:19:22 PM1 votes

Matches could be “evenly made” and still snowball out of control. There’s a reason game times have only gone down on average a couple of minutes in the past 4 years even though people think old games were so much slower.

In SoloQ people don’t know or don’t care to play from behind. I’ve had plenty of comebacks where people on my team don’t babyrage and actually say something constructive in chat (I have ult I in 18 seconds, we fight mid) etc. Not to mention current meta matchups snowball hard. Your bot matchup going 0/8 isnt because one player is objectively worse - one person probably fucked up abd that matchup snowballed out of control. Next game the Adc could be 8/0 against the same opponent. It happens. ESPECIALLY in bot lane when one missed or hit ability can result in a double kill EASILY.

Instead most games peoole just flame jungle and lose as quick as possible.

What, you mean this isnt fair?

Forcing one player to hard carry 2-3 bad players to continue to win?

I've got a lot of comebacks and some throws so, feels balanced to me.

It's the Chads vs Suicidal Incels meta.
