tl;dr below! Enjoy the WOT.

Hello everybody

Due to lots of complaining abut bruisers and them having bad winrates, I made this thread to cover up certain aspects in the game which effects bruisers in a good or bad way.

Season 7 was a good season for bruisers to be in however after the runes update more and more bruisers have been underpreforming. There are several reasons for that which includes (YES) the runes system. In the chapters below i'll try to summerize those problems.

Chapters 1 - How does Gold/Itemazition effect bruisers? 2 - Laning phase of bruisers. 3 - How did the runes effect bruisers? 4 - Most favorite build + stats 5 - custom made runepage/runpath for bruisers. 6 - Champions after runepath.

  1. How does Gold income effect bruisers?

Itemazition of bruisers As of now bruisers have the most expensive itemization. Which means two things, 1 their power spikes get delayed 2 their snowballing gets delayed. These are other reasons why bruisers arent doing so well too. Adc a class that scales into the late game has cheaper items. A class that was made to snowball early game to a victory has way more expensive items then adc which is a class thats supposed to shred enemies and carry the late game. Is it because bruisers have to many expensive items or is it because adc's have them too cheap? I think its the latter, However since expensive items are a big weakness to bruisers there should be a way to benefit from it. I'll be showing you that later on in my custom made runepage.

Itemazition against bruisers Right now tank have super effective itemazition against bruiser just a few examples are item 3047 , item 3076 , item 3751 , actually i dont have a problem with any of these they are quite expensive exept bramble but with the nerfs on pbe i think its a fair item now. I have a problem with a few item in particular which are, item 1056 I personally think this item should not be stackable. There was a time in which mana items werent easy to come by but the mymu update brought tons of mana/health items to buy item 3001 , item 3030 , item 3152 , i feel like some champions for example Malphite has mana issue's in the early game and champions should play around that. Dorans ring being stackable does 3 things, allow them to remove their mana issue's which is a big part of counterplay to those specefic champions, let them remain tanky because of the added health and increasing their dmg output/kill potential by a singnifigant amount. With the amount of mana options available there is no longer need for stacking dorans, and why not dorans blade? you may ask its cause the handfull of champions that do buy it have no need for more cause it only prolongs their powerspike. Tanks have no powerspike in terms of damage unless they buy ap/ad but even if they do, that makes my point even more valid, if they buy ap then they can also buy something with mana in it. Second item which is really toxic at least in my eyes is item 1031 . Its so so CHEAP increasing its value abit more to atleast 900-1000 maybe? Would make it less overbearing especially considering it build of off a cloth armor which is a viable early game item. It decreases ad by quite a bit and is super cheap and easy to get.

  1. Laning phase of bruisers.

There are 2 types of champions which are fuck up bruisers 1 tank 2 ranged

The problem right now with tanks is that they are far to durable whilst maintaining decent damages this is mainly because of 2 things, Base resistances is to low which further increases their damage but their base damage got nerfed last patch IIRC and The runepath is to damned good for them. I think the runpath issue is mainly because the resolve tree gives alot of HP to tanky oppenents which futher increases with inspiration tree that gives a free 100 hp and a starting item, a tank can start with 850+ HP at level one combine that with all the extra stats gained from resolve and your oppenent will be far to tank far to early into the game. Personally i think this tank issue could easliy be resolved by decreasing the HP gained from the resolve tree to 70-80 its legit the same as a starting item. The runes you get from certain tree represents the AD/AS/AP you got from the old runes which is about 15% AS 12 AD 15-20 AP ive legit never seen a tank or anyone for that matter having a runepage that gave them 130 hp its a bit to much, IMO.

The reason i started playing top lane was because i loved the fact that bruisers had unique mechanics and by using this they win the lane. However it didnt matter how good your mechanics were most ranged would still punish you for making a mistake which is fine. Right now they desetroy you for touching minions let alone making a mistake. This is also because base resistences are low but also because some masteries are way to good for them early game. Ranged might be to strong right now,but i totally respect that and i dont think they should be nerfed exept 2 champions which have been toxic and oppresive for far to long. Champion A. Jayce Champion B. Pantheon These champions have historicly been toxic champions, however they both had 1 thing in common which was a clear and good weakness, MANA. Both of these champions had mana issues there arent any good mana/ad items for them to pick up so they had to be managing their mana good instead of endlessly spamming their skills. There are 2 main causes to this problem which ive noticed (and looked up every link will be down below) is buffing jayce's mana in patch 5.22v ( the same patch bruta was removed T.T) and for Pantheon its the good old item 2033 I think this item gives him way to much sustain both mana sustain and health. It should be toned down abit or his ad should, considering his mana costs are to high already. A way to make these champions balanced and fair is with jayce removing his either his engage or disengage tool or make him have some mana problems. Yes, jayce already has nerfs but just to make sure i wasnt just blabing out of my mouth i went to the jayce main reddit to see what they thought about the nerfs and they said because of blackcleaver buffs that are incoming their actually getting more dmg ( link down below), Thats it for laning phase i guess.

  1. How did the runes effect bruisers

A champion that got hurt extreamly hard by the rune/mastery changes is Riven some love her, some hate her. What makes it so difficult for her right now is because she does both burst and DPS PTA is to difficult to proc and it gives as runes whereas electrocute has a long cd and does nothing for her dps. Right now Riven is forced to roam because she cant kill her lane oppenent so she has to roam mid to get kills. This is the sole reason i dropped her and went jungle instead I can get my team twice as ahead as i could top lane. Not only do the runes not fit with her but she's forced into an assassin which means her bruiser build is completly left out and not used anymore. What I loved about riven was the fact that I could do alot and my team partially relied on me but that feeling is gone even if i do manage to do something it just feels pointless. I think by giving bruisers a rune that increases their ad it'll help them snowball. By not having a good keystone which they use to help them win the early game and the snowbal they need , they kinda lose their name as a bruiser.

  1. Most favorite build + stats I got the buildes from guides and experience. Some might not be considered bruisers. keep in mind some might already have a good/decent keystone but I think they could have a better/healthier one.

Aatrox item 3071 item 3153 item 3047 item 3026 item 3065 item 3143 Camille item 3078 item 3748 item 3053 item 3047 item 3075 item 3026 Darius item 3071 item 3065 item 3026 item 3047 item 3053 item 3742 Fiora item 3074 item 3111 item 3065 item 3026 item 3143 item 3053 Gangplank item 3078 item 3142 item 3031 item 3046 item 3087 item 3812 Irelia item 3078 item 3026 item 3065 item 3153 item 3047 item 3748 Jax item 3078 item 3748 item 3053 item 3111 item 3065 item 3143 Jayce item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 item 3071 item 3047 item 3026 Kled item 3071 item 3748 item 3053 item 3193 item 3047 item 3026 Olaf item 3071 item 3065 item 3748 item 3047 item 3742 item 3026 Pantheon item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 item 3071 item 3047 item 3026 Riven item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 item 3158 item 3071 item 3026 bruiser build item 3071 item 3812 item 3139 item 3047 item 3026 item 3036 Shyvana item 3078 item 3153 item 3111 item 3022 item 1416 item 3748 Trundle item 3078 item 3748 item 3143 item 3065 item 3153 item 3053 Tryndamere item 3031 item 3087 item 3046 item 3143 item 3047 item 3153 Udyr item 3078 item 3153 item 1416 item 3065 item 3026 item 3075 XinZhao item 3078 item 3742 item 3153 item 3143 item 3065 item 3026 Yasuo item 3031 item 3046 item 3143 item 3111 item 3072 item 3153 Yorick item 3078 item 3053 item 3075 item 3065 item 3111 item 3742

We can all agree on the fact that most bruisers like AS/AD/Self Healing/CDR. I tried making a runpath that contains all of those.

  1. Custom made runepath

Keystones

Janna's blessing Inceases self healing by 10%

Sharpened blade Stacks 10 times, Each stack increases your ad by 2% of your total ad whilst in combat.

Adreneline rush After using a dash or movementspeedspell increases AS by 10% whilst in combat.

Runes - Bankrobber Phage's sigil - Gain a starting item after 12 min turns into Phage. Bankers gift - Increases starting gold 500-700 Last refund - Your able to refund your starting items.

Revenge Last chance - Increases movespeed by 10 when running towards low health enemies. No mercy - Gain 5% armor pen Cold blooded - Takedowns increase Your AD by 5 whilst in combat.

Survivor Memory's - Increases mr/armor by 15 decreases adeptive damage by 10 Lost friends - Gain armor/armor when near an ally per lvl Hurt - Decreases damage from ranged skills/attacks by 5%

I wanted to give the runes some utility instead of raw dmg like the other Starting 5% cdr/slow/stun increase + 8 dmg/ 10% as

I made sure a champion cant benefit to much from it for example, fiora cant have the keystone which increases her dueling potential and the one that increases her healing

Bruisers have super expensive items so by giving the runes a way to safe up money they can get their power spikes sooner. But i was careful, for example the Phage rune gives them a free phage, which means they dont have to buy it, which means theyll buy item 3067 this gives you the oppertunity to fight back and maybe get a snowball off of it since you do have dmg and they dont. Irelia for example she would love a free phage but she always buy corruption posion which she has to sell later so either she takes refund or phage but she cant have both.

Basicly the reason why i made this runepage is so that bruisers dont have such a rough time against ranged or counters and so they actually have something to get their snowball rolling.

I highly recommend making this a meelee only.

Champions after runepage.

Some champions might be to strong and that is normal with change since some champions benefit more from it then others.

Gangplank The free phage is to good for him. I'd recommend toning down his bandit passive.

Irelia She benefits from it to much but considering her rework i wouldnt tone her down or anything.

Trundle Like Irelia benefits to much from the runes. I'd recommend toning down his q + w abit.

Fiora Some people might have her in mind but due to grevious wounds on bramble i didnt put her here.

Riven Revert buffs.

Yasuo Tone down his numbers abit.

Tl;dr I think bruisers need some love and the buffs theyre getting doesnt necessarily fix the issue's they have right now.

Feel free to comment I'll read and comment on everything and anything exept if its just straight up toxic.

Edit* Forgot to add ( this is the second time im making this post, first one got deleted accidently) I know riot is making grasp a bruiser type of keystone but I personally think grasp is the best keystone in the entire runpage reforged. Not only that but it had great synergy with lots of tank and it encouraged tanks to start a trade instead of the usual ill wait till you attack stretagy I love grasp pls dont remove it :(

Wow that really is a wall of text. A lot of good information though. I think certain bruisers are more deserving of buffs than others, but it's kind of hit and miss right now. If you get ahead, you REALLY get ahead, but if you fall behind, Gl ever coming back from it. I'm not sure what we'd need to change to fix that though. I'm just a lowly little support player...

Let's wait for the new Grasp changes, and see how it affects the entire bruiser line, before nerfing Trundle and Irelia again.
