Can we stop releasing new champs and just rework old champs that aren't even functional at times?

Zbskiller··4 votes·978 views

Rammus Skarner Malzahar Teemo etc...

Why is Gnar stronger in mini than in mega? Why does he have % max health dmg with a shitty bone boomerang? Logic.

What is Neeko ? A mix between Lux and Amumu ? Apart from the passive, most uninspired champ in terms of the kit I've seen.

There are so many other examples that I can't even get into otherwise I would write a novel.

Stop releasing new champs so often, even though Sett and Senna are good designs, some just make me facepalm.

I would rather they stop reworking old champions and release MORE new champions...

Aatrox Akali Galio Irelia Maokai Mordekaiser Pantheon Poppy Ryze Sejuani Sion Skarner SorakaSwain Taric Urgot Vladimir were all champs I used to play quite a bit... now I can't stand any of them. :/ If they keep reworking shit I won't have anymore champions to play at all. As it is I'm down to like 8.

Only good rework... was Warwick.

I mean, I happen to like a number of those reworks too though. Raka, Maokai, and Urgot are some of my favorites and I used to play them before their reworks too.

Personally, I want them to keep reworking champs because there really are a number of characters that feel outdated. If nothing else, at least visual updates. For instance, I love Zillian but compared to most champs now, he looks terrible!

Oh dear lord not Zilean too :/

I mean, I think he's fine gameplay wise. But have you seen how he looks in game compared to more recent or updated champions?

Going to be honest the game could be 320x240 resolution and 8 bit color and I wouldn't notice much of a difference. I started gaming back in the Atari/Colecovision days before the NES came to the US and amazed everyone with it's graphics. To this day I still play a number of text only games.

I mean, that's cool. I get that. I do think though how the game looks can add to the enjoyment. Obviously it shouldn't be the main thing they focus on (I'd always take a game with good gameplay with bad visuals over one with great visuals and terrible gameplay) but I still think it's important. It's a nice addition that I think can be done to touch up on older characters to meet higher expectations.

I think it was fine that a lot of characters like old twitch looked like a literal potato back in the day. But it is over 10 years and riot is much bigger than they were before. I think it's fair to at least make some characters more up to date visually for those who might find that important.

My other issue is Riot seems to thing "more up to date" means "it looks more like an anime character." I honestly miss when league looked like Western fantasy. :/ I preferred the old SR look as well.... not the pastel WoW clone they turned it into.

There's a few things from the old rift that I thought were cool. Old blue buff and its little lizards looked cool. This giant mossy stone golem guarded by two mage like lizardfolk was cool.

But in general, I think the update needed to happen at some point. As for the art direction, I assume that is likely because those styles are both popular but also long lasting.

I haven't played WoW in a long time, but I know the cartoonish art style was purposefully done in part because it is visually more appealing to a broader audience for a longer time. It doesn't age as quickly as say older games focused more on realistic art styles.

But that's just my guess at it, honestly. I like it, but I am assuming there is an underlying business / practical reason for it beyond that's just what they find appealing.

'pastel WoW clone'

... You know league was literally a Warcraft facelift?

No, then we would end up with abominations like Morgana.

What's wrong with Morg exactly? Gameplay? Visual? Both?

Gameplay is fine. It's the redesign that removed her.

Lore, visuals, voiceiver, passive.

Her Update is terrible and I yell at August (AD Yuumi/Jinxylord) regularly about it.

If you're seriously saying Pantheon Poppy Urgot are bad reworks along with akali and galio? You're not reasonable at all. In fact, i don't even know how you justify your opinion. Those champs were busted before rework or barely functioning...

Yes I am. Old Pantheon and Urgot where two of my most played and most enjoyed champions. I don't enjoy micro play. It's boring and something I'm never going to be good at with my hands. I prefer the macro play while not having to focus on 500 dashes and other bullshit. Which explains my dislike of most of the other reworks.

The new Pantheon I just literally can't stand. He feels super clunky, his R is even worse than it was before, His E CD is so long they might as well remove it, and it does no damage. There is just zero reason to play the champ over any of the 20-30 jungler/top lanes that do a shit ton more damage and are often tankier to boot. I liked the old Assassin-style Pantheon much better.

New Urgot... AGAIN clunky AF. He's slow as balls, his passive is beyond annoying when trying to last hit or freeze, his Ultimate is a PoS compared to his old one, his range sucks, and if it wasn't for conqueror he wouldn't even be a champions. Old urgot basically had a better Malz Ulti + STUPID long range. Loved him.

New Poppy is the exact opposite of the old poppy. Again I don't like bruiser style champions... which the majority of the reworks ended up being. Old poppy turned every fight into a 1v1,, and it was great. You either did well with her, or blew up. New Poppy is boring AF and is only there to stop dashes with her W a R people away. She's the opposite of fun, she's anti-fun.

Neeko is pretty interesting imo, kit revolves around having to sneak around to get close and land ult as a squishy. I don't think she was intended to be a super revolutionary champ, just an average burst mage.
