I need some general tips for my gameplay and climbing

So I am in silver 2, and play lots of top, so that's where I want some general answers or any tips.

Using my last game as an example, I played nasus top, and I was doing very well. I had about 450 stacks at 20 minutes and had both top tier 1 and tier 2 towers down around that time.

At such a high advantage at that point, what should I be doing? Roaming, pushing still? Its situational, I know, but under what examples should I do what? I tried to continue to push but their team grouped and I got caught in a 1v4 and after killing a few of them, I died. I looked at the map but my teammates were not pushing very well/they started going back to base as if to buy items before their laners came back. I tried to roam after, but my laner and the jungle chased me wherever I went. It came to a point where they saved their exhausts for me in the later teamfights, and after I was down they cleaned up my team. Should we have just turtled until my team farmed up? I was 5 levels above my team, but didn't give them a chance to catch up.

This would seem unlucky, to be prioritized with exhaust, etc, but the past few games have been like this, where the top lane tank is being priorotized over anybody else but my team can't use it to their advantage.

Should I even be playing top lane if I want to climb fast? Maybe I should, maybe not, because most games I play top (nasus/cho) double the damage of my ADC's and it's so frustrating I don't know what to do anymore :/. I do not want to micromanage my team either, so please don't suggest that.

Sorry if this sounds whiny or desperate. Ranked is haunting me :^(

Group only if you and your team are gonna get objectives, dont group for no reason. if youre not grouping, farm and splitpush. avoid fighting useless, risky fights. If you want to take bot tower, group with your bot lane and maybe jg too to MAYBE dive and take it.

Watch Sirhcez imo. Typically your best bet though is to just keep splitting and only group up if you're going to be taking something your team needs help taking, and maybe for a flank. Splitting doesnt just mean going top though repeatedly, you can split bot if you have TP and the next objective to be fought for is on the top side of map. Dont push out while your team has no pressure elsewhere though, and dont wait till you've been ganked during your split to look at your teams positioning.
