Ranked quality of life change - Make games where someone leaves not effect your promos/de-promotion

2nd Chance··11 votes·543 views

Again, this is specifically for people who leave your ranked game for your promos/risk of de-promotion game, not you leaving your own game yourself (for that would clearly and very easily be abused). While also making it the same for duos as well, where both players are treated as a group and one can't leave to save the other, or it'd get abused as well.

Regardless which side wins/loses or what caused their leave of the game at hand, it just isn't fun for those negatively effected by it and isn't a proper test of a player's skills for those that gain from it, which contradicts what ranked stands for - a test of the player's overall learned experience and gained skill against other's of the same or near-equal skill/experience level.

While I would ask for players who did rage quit to be punished more for purposely causing more frustration for their teammates, it's probably impossible right now for multiple reasons.

So would it please be possible to at least implement this quality of life change to League's ranked system it so desperately needs?

It's something that should've been done multiple seasons ago now and due to it's frustrating negative impact upon players, is quiet likely to be causing a good amount of League's toxicity to be formed.

Give those who are effected by such things a 2nd Chance at their game of rank survival or promotion, a fair chance.

Would love this, but its not a qol change, those are very small and considered more of a fix, this is quite a big buff. (Would still love to see it happen)

I would personally love this as many of my promos ended very sour, however, I can see the potential for this being abused. The possibility of bullying someone into quitting to save your promos could be a possibility, however, I do see that as rare. I think it's something that could be tested at the very long test on the ptr just to see player interactions.

Mhmm, that's a possibility that could arise...

Maybe there could be a catch system implemented where negative players who do this get a warning/ban and whatever rank/LP gained through that abuse/harassment removed?

If this were to be implemented this would be a perfect way to bring back the tribunal as well. A lot of people don't trust the report system anymore and making more conditions for AI to follow could be a hit or miss.

I never get why people say that others will "bully others into leaving"

It simply won't happen.

No one will leave because others are telling them to because there's a leaver penalty in place. Even the most sensitive of people won't.

So tie the ability to get this privilege to the new honour system, anyone who bullies for benefits would eventually end up losing all their honour and thus not be able to abuse the system.

That's a pretty solid idea tbh

This is always raised as a problem when people suggest things to deal with afk/dc with a built-in protect for duos/teams. How the HELL do you "virtually" bully someone into going AGAINST their own best interests? Do we really have that many babies in this game? When I get semi-toxic players that want to give up in ranked I always say "no". Sometimes its because I think we can still win (and have done so), but sometimes its just out of spite. Yeah, if you're being a jerk and want out of my game I'll make you stay in it. You've already given up on the LP? So have I, let's see who hates the current game more. (and no, I don't feed or int, I keep trying to win I'm just not going to give you the satisfaction of what you want if you're going to have a bad attitude on top of everything else)

TLDR; If you're gonna be a bully, I'm MORE likely to stick with something out of spite rather than give you what you want.

So only in promo cases?

How about only in deciding promo games.

If you are 1-1 or 2-2 and you have an afk you get a redo on that game if you lose it.

You could potentially trade these back and forth (like win trading) but it would be such an uncommon scenario to have a 5 on 5 where everyone agrees to concede. Has to be less than 1%. Probably a lot less, so it'd be tough to abuse.

I could get behind it.

Well I'm also thinking about the other end of the spectrum about those people who are at 0LP and with just one more loss could set them back a rank, then they get that afk person on their team just straight up dooming them unfairly.

However that could also work, but I'm just trying to levitate stress generated from afkers during promos in general yah know?

I vote no as a loss prevention measure (that's already hard enough to do, very forgiving) and focus on promotion which is the biggest role of the dice.
