The Issues I have with Top Lane

I've been an avid League player ever since season 3, and I have been watching top lane change. I would like to address some of the problems I have with items, summoner spells, champions, and even the "meta."

First of all, the items and champions focused on top are drastically different from a long time ago. There were assassins, carries, and people that could output a lot of damage. Fast forward to today, where we have super strong juggernauts that are outrageously tanky, can do tons of damage without damage items, and have quite a bit of utility like silences, pulls, etc. I feel as if the game punishes me for building any sort of damage or playing a champion based on damage. Newer top laners are downright oppressive and almost impossible to deal with. The game should reward good play with more damage or more tankyness, not both. This may be wrong, but I view it as a bit unfair. For instance, playing Fiora against Garen is almost impossible, even if the Garen is far behind, he becomes to tanky and deals too much damage to deal with, with an ult doing like 800-1000 true damage. When a super tank with 6 non damage items can 100-0 targets, you know there is a problem. It feels like oppression, and even if you did amazingly in lane, it doesn't matter, which brings me to my next point.

Summoner spells! Its pretty basic: if you play top, you take teleport. There was quite a bit of creativity with smite in the top lane a while ago, but now its just back to flash and teleport. I have no issues with using teleport outside of laneing, like for a dragon fight or a good split push. However, getting first blood in lane feels so much more meaningless, because if the enemy has a good champ, they will just teleport back, not miss any farm, and still be able to wreck you in lane. This makes taking ignite almost nonexistent in ranked play, and makes game much less interesting.

Items top lane are also quite annoying for me. For instance, almost everyone (and their mothers) takes flask+3 pots. I can understand for someone like a poppy or a Jax, or someone who needs the extra mana, but when everyone gets it because it offers the best sustain, it feels like theres less creativity. Dorans shield, dorans blade, all not picked up because of the more sustain that flask gives you. Building one of these items makes me lose before the first back, and its annoying.

I feel as if top lane is needs to buff the top side laneing of damaging champions like poopy, Kha-Zix, pantheon maybe even champions like lee-sin, and Nidalee. Theses champions are almost nonexistent now thanks to the newer top laners who can do just as much if not more damage while being super tanky. The damage of tanky top-laners like Garen, Darius, etc. should be much lower if there arent items to back it up. The game should reward damaging champions with more damage, being able to snowball that into a lead, instead of having tankier champions become almost unstoppable in tankiness and in damage.

In conclusion: Make top lane more creative. Top lane should not be a lane that focuses on sameness, only tanky items, only teleport, only flask, etc. Make the fighters and damage dealers stronger in lane and make the tanks do less damage in return for their tankyness.

its simple riot overpowers every champ to sell skins almost no champ trades anymore..... they literally have NO disadvantage tank + fighter for instance best example wold be jarvan

he is more fighter than tank.... almost indestructible and has one heck of an cc + all the pump up passive stuff....

riot wants to make players have a overall choice of champions aka riot wants to remove all tags therefor jarvan would just be a warrior thats tanky same with garen etc etc so that you can play ANY lane with teh champ instead of just one they want to remove the ''limit''

Riot has had problems with Top laners Dictating the pace of the Game when they have been allowed to Build damage.

The top lane has for the Longest time been Characterized as being an Island cause they are usually been left alone. But what that means is that Top lane whines up being the most farmed with the highest Level. Which causes them to have the Win lane, win game, should they be a powerful Duelist/Splitpusher. (like Jax)

And actually Tanks arn't the only thing played the top lane in Pro play. But the Damage is mostly from magic sources like Rumble.

TP is always going to be important so long as Top lane is an Island. Though some champs like Fizz and Hecarim are able to replace Flash with ignite. You just can't beat Global pressure.

Flask is a bigger issue though. Personally I don't feel like Doran's shield does enough and is underpowered. While flask gives you plenty of sustain. But having TP makes it more powerful since you can easily head back to the fountain to refill it.
