Regularily I have supports that refuse to upgrade their support item or but it at all. Sadly that means that NO ONE has sightstone.
Bring back sighstone PLEASE.
Yes it is okay if a support needs to invest an early 800 gold into vision. No they dont need to get gifted everything. Every cost comes at an opportunity cost. Buy vision OR damage.

Did you actually buy a sightstone on those occasions where a rogue support refused to get one? You have trinkets and you can buy 10 control wards (3 per back) for less than 800g

but the ward item being seperate from the gold per time item is what made many people not buy it, I have never seen a support not buy the gold per time item
I have no idea what supports you are playing with that don't upgrade their gold item ,but make sure you mention that they get more gold once they upgrade it. Like nearly twice as much...
Whatever kind of elo hell that is, get out of it and you won't have a problem. Any half decent support will buy the item. The real problem (and I say this as a support main) is getting them to USE the the sightstone.
Honestly, the way the new sightstone is is perfect. Yes, there are going to be downsides to every change ever made, but for the most part the change was needed and good.
