Champion Select Feedback

Most of it is good. To me, it feels like it's a good place to start.

Things I really don't like:

  1. Picking champion intent.
  • Adds extra time to the draft and little value. I could easily just type to my team what I want to play. I'm ok if it doesn't go away, but don't prefer it.
  1. LOCKING IN. -Yes it's new so a lot of people still getting used to it, but really what's the point of REQUIRING the lock. If I have a champion hovered and time hits 0, just lock it for me. If you keep pick intent, I'm already supposed to have shown you what I want. If I don't like what happened, I can manually dodge instead of the game forcing me. I've literally spent 20 minutes in drafts because of dodges that I'm 99% sure people didn't intend to do.

  2. The Giant character frames while someone is picking. -In the previous champ select, we could view our champions the entire time after ban phase was over. This helps a lot in deciding your pick as the draft phase proceeds. I don't like being forced to stare at a giant portrait of Wukong when I could be browsing my champs to strategize my pick.

  3. There are still draft trolls. Fill is problem. -I think fill needs to be removed. I've seen it a couple times already where someone chooses either "Support" or "Fill" and then declares they're taking a different role in champ select. Perhaps now its easier to justify a "disband group" option (requiring something like 4/5 vote). There should be little reason to use it, but in the times you do need it, it will be obvious.

  1. I think it's just so that people can attempt to build a team comp to favor what people prefer to play. I for one would love to play Kha'zix jungle every game if possible, or maybe Xerath mid. Certain team comps enable those picks to be insane, others don't. Giving a bit of intention can let people say "Oh you want to play Xerath mid, I'll pick a tank to help keep you safe while you throw damage from afar." That kind of a thing, sure it adds time, but I think it's an overall positive feature, and if nothing else something to have fun with, like a full team locking in the intent to play Teemo or something.

  2. This was a horrible addition, I see basically no purpose behind it other than to force people to sit through champion select, maybe a way to try and force people into strategy building in champ select, but it leads to innumerable dodges that weren't intended. I was Valkrin's stream quite a bit, and there were a huge number of people that ended up dodging because they didn't lock their ban, because now you have to lock in your ban instead of just clicking it, or didn't lock their champions because they picked an ran to the bathroom or something, or even just forgot they're required to lock. It's insult to injury with how long the queues already are, especially that high in the matchmaking. I think he waited like an hour to get a game in master tier between queue time and then all the dodges after.

  3. I'll second that as well, it's kind of a cool feature, but I personally think you don't need to force everyone to stare at the champion that whoever locked in. Sure it avoids people going, "Oh shit I didn't see they locked in Tahm Kench or I wouldn't have locked in Zed." But those were so few and far between to begin with that I don't think it warranted the change.

  4. This option is becoming more and more appealing, I've seen people several times that ended up higher in pick order, but getting their second option, and just high jacking their primary role that they didn't get, because who is going to stop them. There's no report in champion select to report people from defying the pre-selected role that was given to them, so what's to stop them from doing it. Or trolling when someone picked a champion they don't like. I don't think there's any reason to remove fill, as I'd select it for the actual purpose of filling, but there needs to be either a report in champion select, a disband team vote, or even both.

I would love smaller portaits (for those of us who have a lot of champs) or groups of champs that you can make in before like item sets.

And maybe something to remember urself to change ur runes/masteries (optionnal maybe)
