Zac Jungle and the Meta for Tanks in General
I am a Zac jungle main, I have a good W/R as Zac. Or I do thanks how well I did in Season 5. But at the start of Preseason 6 I have felt a massive hit as Zac and tanks in general. It seems as though the meta is heavily favoring assassins and all high damage champs. Above all the new mastery page is the leading factor. Many of the masteries do not synergize with Zac or many of the tanks I play (and I do not mean currently op tanks like
).
Early Game: Zac's early game was quite strong, his first clear sustain plus his E allowed for very strong ganks pre6, often i could get 3-6 kills before death setting me up for his heavy CC mid&late game where he is no longer capable of racking up kills. But all the changes require Zac to use more health pots for first clear ganks, and while ganking you can not as easily live through a well placed E bot lane or mid lane. Thunderlords in particular is a major cause of Zac losing any natural tankiness early game.
Playing from Behind: When playing from behind in Season 5 wasn't difficult. You still had the ability to win fights 1v1 when playing safe and above all smart. And when getting caught by the enemy team (assuming you dont run into 4 or 5 of them) you could fairly easily use flash, E, and R for reliable escapse, assuming you have them off cd. Now in Preseason 6 I find I am far squishier. Getting caught by two people is almost impossible to escape if they have at least moderate CC. My TTK (in this case Time To Die) is far shorter and easily bursted down despite my build of pure tank.
Late Game: If ahead or even Zac feels close to how he did in Season 5. His late game once at, and close to full build is nearly as tanky as Season 5.
Conclusion: The new mastery page I believe is the major cause for tanks losing much of their survivability early and mid game. Outside of the fact that the new masteries tend to favor damage dealers I am not a fan of the more Cookie Cutter/unversatile layout of mastery build paths (but that is a seperate issue).
I
to see my blobby buddy
take such a hard hit. Perhaps Tanks/tankiness has just kinda fallen out of the meta and it is simply something to accept as all seasons tend to bring on new metas.
