Rek'Sai: Too Well Rounded?
As always happens with new releases of champions, we see them nonstop for the day of release and relentlessly for the next week or two. At first, when I started seeing Rek'Sai
in games, I was unimpressed. She didn't look particularly good, the ganks were rough, and she didn't help a whole lot. This I now can say was most likely just the new learning curve, as she doesn't play much at all like the other champions in the league.
The line to cross however, is when people began to understand how to play her. I had 3 games in a row where the Rek'Sai single-handedly pretty much won the game for whichever side she was on. I haven't played as Rek'Sai, so my view may be a little skewed, but I've played next to her and against her enough to understand that she doesn't really have a weakness she has been mastered.
I'm not going to say outrageous statements without support for my claims, so I'll try to help you see my point of view.
- She is extremely well rounded, and is capable of playing any number of ways.
- She has an underground movement speed bonus, plus the innate sustain by healing as soon as she dives underground.
- While tunneled, she has a relatively low-cd fair damage poke, that she can spam.
- She has no mana limitations, allowing her to use abilities seemingly at will if they are off cd.
- She has an AOE melee burst attack, with high enough damage to allow her to trade with most melee champions
- While laning, she has super high mobility and can escape any gank with her tunnel, and especially if she picked up flash or has a tunnel chain.
- Her tunnel doubles as a knock up, causing immediate cc followed by her 3 attack burst.
- She wins any trades in lane, because she can then hide back with her sustain and poke.
- Possibly highest mobility in the game.
I Personally lane top, and have lost with both tank and burst champions against her, because she is just too well rounded. Every top lane has it's oh sh*t moments, and I've lost my share of times, but all of those were more because of the champion pick countering me, or winning vice versa. I can't find any actual true weakness that she has. As far as stats, she isn't directly OP, but her kit has almost everything in it, making her an impossibly hard champion to deal with.
The only time I actually completely beat her in lane, was with Fiora
Because I barely out-bursted her at level 6. (Fiora is far from op unless fed: loses lane hard against Pantheon, Vlad, etc.) But i only killed her in lane by myself that one time, every other time i attacked she either tunneled away or traded and then healed up and poked non-stop.
I'm not entirely sure how she can be balanced, but she is truly too strong at the moment. Also for when she is top lane, I have yet to find a hard-counter for her, even through various champion and damage types. (tried Fiora
, Pantheon
, Garen
, Darius
, Nidalee
, Teemo
) ((even though god knows we all hate teemo))
Again, I haven't played her myself so I don't know every in-and-out of all her abilities, but from what I have seen this is my opinion. Also would love to see any agreements with or arguments against, as I like the idea of Rek'Sai, I simply think that on release she is just a bit too strong.
