In regards to the new "Position Diversity"
Hello! I don't post much on here, but this is very important to me; right off of the bat I'd like to say what a great change this is in theory. For those who don't know, Riot has explicitly stated that they were going to focus on opening up doors for champions to go into roles that they are usually not brought. Specifically mentioned were itemization changes, kit changes, and rune changes were also alluded to. But I'd like to highlight what could go wrong; so that those things could possibly be avoided.
Possibility number one - ONLY Raw stat changes are implemented Off of the top of my head I can remember that Riot has given Brand, Ekko, Zyra, and Morgana stats that exclusively deal extra damage to jungle monsters. This is awesome! I love that people who enjoy jungling, but still like the feeling of bursty/poke mages can viably bring their champions to their desired role. The problem arises when this is the only change that is made. I myself am not a fan of jungling; alongside many others. What I hope we don't see is "Extra damage to neutral monsters" being added to every champion's kit, and only that.
Possibility number two - whatever is added to a champion's kit only makes the champion stronger in their current position I'm going to use an example that I want to see implemented, and how it could get messed up. I want to play solo lane bard. I want to be able to bring bard top lane, build him full tank, and not have anyone flame me for doing it. But there are many things that could go wrong in the process of making my dream a reality. Bard's kit contains one damage ability, and the rest is utility based; so what changes can be made to make him stronger in a duel situation? How about... When bard casts his W: Caretaker's Shrine; on himself, he gets an extra flat amount of healing from it which scales with level. That should be balanced right? Unfortunately not. His kit would still be modeled to assist another throughout the laning phase, and in tandem with his passive which provides him free mana, he would never have to leave lane. In short, there needs to be some very specific changes to a champion's kit in order to keep the balance of the game intact.
Possibility number 3 - one or two changes are made through out the year and we never really get delivered true position diversity. This is self-explanatory, and honestly; might be the most disappointing of all.
Popular possibilities-
-
Turning supports into solo laners (Bard/Leona top, Sona/Janna mid, Rakan/Alistar jg etc.)
-
Improving the clears of champions who can't clear very well; while maintaining their weaknesses (Aurelion Sol, Jhin, Zoe, Leblanc, Blitzcrank etc.)
-
Allowing junglers to explore other roles (Vi/Kayn/Lee sin top, Ivern/Kindred support, Fiddlesticks/Elise mid, etc.)
To sum all of this up, There are two factors in choosing what you play in this game; champion playstyles, and role playstyles. I've forced myself to play roles just so I could play a champion, but the role prevented me from enjoying what I found nice about a champion. So please find creative ways to bring champions into different roles, (Not just turning everyone into a jungler) please don't break the game, it's pretty fragile, and please don't under deliver.
Best of luck Riot!

P.S. I'd appreciate a rioter response about this since it's very important to me, but it's understandable if not <3
