LF a high elo top laner to teach me how to play the lane

Hey; I placed bronze while still learning the game, climbed to high silver in a couple months, and I am confident in my ability to get to high gold within a matter of weeks. I was able to climb using ADC, this was a problem because I only enjoyed 1 champion in the role; Jinx. She got adjusted, Riot stamped her with built in infinite attack speed, and now she is more or less a pick or ban in the lower elos. I was sick and tired of directly relying on someone else, and having to deal with the harass of two people while being extremely squishy. So I realized that top is probably the role for me. Maokai is a crazy cc tank, Poppy IS the projectile, Trundle just split pushes for days, and Kled is- well, Kled is Kled. I love the roster of champions in top lane, but I do not entirely understand the intricacies of what I should be doing throughout the game (creating a lead, transferring that lead into the mid-late game, trading, roaming, etc.). It would be greatly appreciated if someone with experience playing top lane could help me out. Thanks!
