League of Legends current direction

So from the looks of the boards it looks like League of Legends is about to near it's fatal downfall that most games go through. If i had to compare League with another game (not necessarily a MOBA) then it would be the equivalent of Runescape for those of you who remember the MMORPG. Runescape's populaity peaked in 2007 with over 1 million players logging on daily and 500.000 players on at any time of the day. Now what was the downfall of the game? Well for those of you who stayed for 3-4 years after then you would remember the introduction of Evolution Of Combat system. Well for most Runescape players and veterans, that system effectively killed the game for many players dropping the community numbers from 1 million logging in per day to about 50.000 people logging in each day when the system hit the live servers. The Runescape community did have Moderators and Administrators interact with players both in-game and on the forums, just like Rioters do now, but they were more active and were more clear on what changes to the game were made rather than what Riot does now, which is give us patch notes then lets us figure out what the hell actually changed in terms of gameplay. I feel that right now League is either nearing its peak or past its peak and is in a steady downfall where one small mistake could effectively kill the game and playerbase on one fell swoop. So before that happens I suggest to Riot Games to look towards the community to where they can improve the game and avoid that fatal end. The Skins team is actually the optimal if not best example of Riot employee's looking to the community for idea's with several champion skins actually being put up on the live server for players to purchase.

The people who bitch all day on the forums are an insignificant fraction of those who play. It's just human nature to be more vocal about complaints, and not really make a big deal if you're content; assuming the vocal majority is the majority of the community is ignorant and will only get you terribly false statistics.

Even pro players complain about the changes made to the game, it's not just a fraction of the community and those who do voice their opinions are the ones who have time invested both into the game and boards. Most people just play the game and never bother with the boards at all because they don't care for the health of the game itself.

Pro players want easy wins, not balance.

There's an old axiom in politics... For every constituent who takes the time to write or call with a complaint, there are a 1000 more who feel the same.

Every game is dead, except the ones that haven't died yet. Similarly, every human is dead, except the ones that haven't died yet.

I think the only thing keeping this game together is the hype from watching LCS. The game is at a point where it's more enjoyable to watch it rather than play it. This is why I don't have a problem with them balancing around the LCS. As long as I'm having fun tuning in to the streams and rooting for my favorite teams, then LoL is attractive. I think the only game that has the potential to match LoL is CS:GO, but that game is facing their share of problems with balance updates and professional players cheating on stage.
