I'm f*king tired of seeing shyvana jungle on my team. PLaying any late game jungler is like "Team i hope you can survive without ganks for the first 20 minutes cuz i'm useless until then." Then by the time they finally scale, its too late. The enemy team is ahead. You could argue that my team should have learned to play safe, but its alot harder to play when you have no ganks.
I think it's more like guys who want to main shyvana have to take her to the jungle because it's their only option. It's not like farming junglers are meta right now though.
I've personally never understood the mentality of needing ganks as a laner. The jungler isn't entitled to gank your lane, but they should at least cover for you while you're at base.
You need to improve your laning ability, or learn to play champions that are more self-sufficient. Always go into a game assuming you'll receive no ganks and work from there.
It is much easier for a jungler to perform well if the laners have map awareness and understand the importance of playing safe and/or making favorable trades.
There are too many factors involved to just completely rule out control/duelist junglers like Shyana over gankers. It all depends on what kind of comp you're running.

Plenty of "late game" junglers are viable.
There's no issue with them really - it's not like the feral flare meta where you wouldn't see them for 20 minutes. Ganking is fairly optimal now so Junglers can still be late game scalers and gank where they want. The shyv you had not ganking was another issue in itself - with the player.
Well, same goes for every lane. If you paired the shyv with say galio mid and lucian adc it can work wonders. If you picked kassa kaisa and shyv in the same game... Well take that L xD
I can flip the question around- why play champs who need junglers to gank your lane? The meta favors champs who can get lane priority to help roam and secure early scuttle crabs.
It really doesn't matter who you play to be honest unless you're super high elo. Just focus on yourself and play the gosh darned game.
