I love the new champion select... but it being in normals worries me

I think the new champion select is great, but I really don't like that it is now more blind pickish in normal.

Reason being, I love to play stupid off meta things like bard ADC, kalista support, Annie jungle, and soraka top. In fact, one of my most played champions who I have level five mastery with is Nidalee, who I play almost exclusively as a support.

Now, I never take these in ranked, but a good half my games in normal, I'm just screwing around. I'm not trolling because I still try to win, but I'm also just trying to have fun.

This new champion select will insure I am never able to do that again. Before I could queue up as bard ADC, and wait in a 20 minute queue until someone was like wow, that sounds fun.

Now, I'm simply being marked as "bot lane carry" and am going to be flamed to all hell when I even HOVER over bard as my intended pick. At this point my only hope is to be in five man premade groups, but those aren't the easiest to make.

"but clubs! You can find a just for fun club!", you say? Well no, not really because most people that would be into this just want to troll, and have honestly of intent of winning. My goal is still to win, and I hate feeders and trolls just as much as the next person.

Obviously I know the system isn't out yet, and I might not have a firm grasp of how it works, but if I'm going to be flamed and reported every game for trying to have fun in a game.... Well what's the point?

What I'm hearing is "I don't like a change that makes Team Builder more attractive to support mains, I prefer to take advantage of people being tired of waiting for 20 minutes to get a game so they'll take anything they can get."

You can do off-meta stuff just as easily, you just have to re-affirm in chat "I'm going Bard ADC" on the select screen so people don't think you're trying to poach the support position. If a player on your team says "No, that's dumb, you're the support and I'll ADC" Riot has mentioned that's report worthy (note, if you agree to swap then that's fine).

I'm a support main first of all, and when have you ever had a 20 minute queue time waiting for an jungle or mid? I'm really not "taking advantage" of anyone.

Your second point might be true, but I'm still afraid of people reporting me for trolling. This new champion select is enforcing the meta in the most possible way (Unless you're in a five man premade)

I'm pretty sure most games when I don't bring my own Jungler the wait is about 20 minutes. I despise the current Team Builder on so many levels, but I'm optimistic the new one will fix those flaws.

The only thing the new team builder enforces meta-wise is that there is at least one player Top lane, Mid lane, and Bottom lane, with a Jungler and a Support. Note that they're specifically avoiding "ADC" as a category, calling it "Bottom" so that AP champions or melee champions could take that spot.

Isn't it also making duo bot a thing even though duo mid, top, or even jungle are going to be strats to be tested soon because of the new major objective top?

They're technically leave that up to the teams to discuss and try it themselves.

We don't see position select impeding lane swaps or other emergent strategies in the future, and teams remain totally free to collaborate and experiment with different comps (double jungle 2016)!

That's not how it works. Go read their post. You pick a position and AFTER YOU'RE IN THE LOBBY you pick your champion. So you queue up as ADC, then pick Bard and no one can kick you since there's no captain.

However, I agree that it should not exist in normals since it causes the meta to freeze up with no possible evolution.

I may have been misunderstood, that is exactly my point. By going as Bard ADC or whatever, I will be reported because I am "Trolling" and "Keeping them Captive". Think of when a jungle nunu switches to clarity and clairvoyance right before match starts in blind pick.

I feel like it should be in Normals if it's going to be made for Ranked. You should be able to get a feel for the Q type, BEFORE commiting to a ranked match in said q.

This isn't to say it should be go to, That really for the players to decide.
