Why Are Gold-Plat ELO Players So BM?

Hi guys, here's some background:

Was just in a ranked game (1640 MMR; mid Gold-low Plat). Beginning from the champ select screen, our jungler began saying "gg we lose" and "ff." Throughout the game, he continues putting up this sour attitude. Then mid game, our support made a bad choice and our Jinx ADC instantly lost her shit and got into the same mood as Lee (our jungler). At this point, we were 2 turrets down but even on kills and farm. The two continued to have a sour attitude until we lost. However before we lost, we had a couple good fights and pulled ~4K gold lead. I honestly thought we could come back and win, but jinx decided to solo push top because she was "done with this stupid supp."

Now as the title says, why are people in this ELO so BM? I find that compared to Bronze/Silver, where players just int and rage in Tyler1 fashion, Gold/Plat players get easily and incredibly tilted by the tiniest misplay and proceed to mentally give up on the game. Is there a way to help people avoid this behavior? Or is this just a phenomenon that I'm going to have to live with in my games now?

Thank you for reading this far and please be respectful. I do not mean any offense to anyone; I just want a honest answer.

I've actually found Gold is the most chill MMR. Silver is a cesspool and Plat 5 players are probably the worst in the game. I cant really speak on Diamond+ though. Been a long time since I've been in Bronze as well

I find that I have higher expectations for people in gold/plat/diamond. Gold is the first elo where people generally "win more than they lose". It's the first elo where generally the players at least have some understanding of the game.

So when you're in gold elo and you do something like pick Nasus support I find it pretty annoying. I had that happen last night. op.gged the guy. He was on a 13 game losing streak. Thankfully somebody dodged.

The higher you go of elo the more will be expected of you. Gold isn't high elo, but its the first elo where you can honestly say "you should probably know better".
