I'll always say no to the Slavestone!

IA9hRfpP5q··6 votes·887 views

Riot must seriously consider getting rid of the slavestone.

No one ever goes at min X "Hey (insert role here) where is your (insert item here)" or "Why did you (insert action here) or opinion about (insert build here)"

It's always "Where is the slavestone? Where are the wards? Did you ward? No vision"

Every player can place up to a max of 3 wards with the slavestone And 1 control ward.

It's always the support placing 1 control ward and the 3 wards. Where the hell is your control ward, jungler, mid, adc and top? We'd have so much vision.

Seriously, fuck the slavestone. fuck slavery. I wanna have my build too.

Map Awareness requires common sense. Warding is a team effort. I'm not a slave.

While you're at it, say no to the Slave Rod and Slave Sword item 1058 item 1038

I mean, can't my teammates respect that I'm a strong, independent, solo lane mage? If I wanted their feedback on my item 3198 item 3006 item 3084 item 3460 item 3056 item 3151 item 3341 build (it's OP on Xerath! ) I would have asked them!

Damage is a team effort, I shouldn't have to build items that help me do more damage if I don't want to. I don't care that you think that's my role's job to provide damage!

Seriously though, this is what I think of when I hear someone complaining about buying Sightstone as a Support. Why would you not want to buy the item that's the most effective thing you can get for your role?

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

That's why I ward as the mid, top, support, or jungle.

We do ward. Remember that jungler ganks don't always work on mid or top. Which means that we ward too. So you have no excuse.

As for me, you had best hope you don't support against me, cuz I buy item 2055 and item 3341 and item 2303 .

Good luck having vision.

Mysticman892 votes

You're not obliged to build it or anything, it'll just show up in your rank. Without looking you up, I'm guessing bronze or low silver. It's not about being a slave, it's about being good at league of legends.

Vision is super important. If I could do my job in the other roles and build a sightstone, I'd be thrilled. Unfortunately, 6 item cap, and the job of other roles (occasionally excluding jungler) means they're obliged to build tanky/damage.

With the support, their champion is (/should) be chosen because of the utility inherent to their kits, so they have the freedom to build utility items like sightstone (which is even relatively cheap). They generally shouldn't build damage since they're underleveled and gold starved compared to laners, so they wouldn't be very effective at any stage of the game except ultra-late (the point where vision is perhaps most important since a single pick can determine the game), and they don't need to build as tanky since they're the support and shouldn't be focused unless they're very out of position (and if they're focused without being out of position, it probably means a won teamfight).

Edit: And people criticise other roles builds when they do it wrong too. For the majority of ADCs, if they're not building an IE, they're almost certainly doing it wrong. Most ADC's actually rush it so don't get much flak (...although it should be BF->zeal item->IE, not IE->zeal item), it's just low elo supports who don't seem to understand their role.

You can actually get reported for not getting a sightstone on support lel. What do you think that whole support singed thing was just about.

Refusing to work with his team, not playing his role correctly.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

The support Singed fiasco was a player queuing for support and essentially playing as a second jungler.

Riot was enforcing role selection.

Hyperiön1 votes

Which is exactly what I said.

not playing his role correctly and not working with his team...

LostFr0st1 votes

After talking with Riot on the forums he improved his communications in-game. I'm pretty sure he's still playing support smite Singed now, he's just actually talking with his team, not at them.

Mysticman891 votes

Riot was very clear that that was not about their builds or how (or where) they played their role, but rather consistently refusing to communicate with their team over the span of hundreds or even thousands of games.

Now yes, how people are building/playing their role is going to be closely tied to how teams perceive them in terms of communication, but in principle people can not build sightstone on support and take smite and essentially double jungle and that's not punishable in of itself, provided they're actively trying to win. If instead of the singed smite thing, it was someone playing a conventionally meta adc in the adc role, building in a meta fashion, but over the span over hundreds of games all 4 other members consistently insisted they shouldn't do that, then the meta adc player playing adc in the meta fashion would also be punished for failure to work with their team. In principle the latter scenario wouldn't come up since people generally like to see meta play (there might be the occasional group that wants something more exciting, but it wouldn't consistently be an issue), but Riot was pretty clear that that's what it was about, not about the builds/playstyles themselves.

Hyperiön1 votes

Again, that is exactly what I said. Are people so blind that I need to repeat myself 3 times?

I will just copy and paste because I am tired of typing it.

You can actually get reported for not getting a sightstone on support lel.

It's this part that people have been responding to, since it's false. Or it's true, but vacuously so, in the sense you can get reported for literally anything. A report for not building a sightstone as a support is not a valid report, and similarly reports for not playing a role 'correctly' are not valid and will be ignored by riot.

Hyperiön1 votes

Did you even read any of the posts by the Reds or Blues?

If not, here is the link.

Mysticman891 votes

Indeed, so if you read the red posts there you find

Q: If intentions are clearly aimed at victory, is there an outer boundary for too unconventional a pick/build/strategy? A: No. This is where we break from the Support ticket linked in the original reddit discussion. Real talk, this player is far from the only support in Gold V to skip out on a Sightstone. No one should ever get banned for skipping Sightstone. ...

It was a contentious issue, and theres closely linked issues with different stances that they tried to be clear on. Theres a lot of people whose take away from the smite singed thing was "You can't play smite singed support and you must build a sightstone as a support, or you risk bans", which is absolutely the wrong thing to take away from it (since it's false). Communicating with your team however is important, and consistent failure to do so is a problem that can be punished.

Certainly unconventional play can lead to some communication failures, so they are difficult to separate, but they are separate issues. It's quite possible you even realise the distinction yourself and just didn't realise you misspoke, but since it's something that people get wrong people have been jumping on you.

Your third mom2 votes

Riot gave us yellow trinket people still forgets to use it :/

Hyperiön2 votes

Thats because people upgrade their trinkets. Yellow trinkets are only useful on the Top laner. ADC and Mid should have Blue trinket.

Jungle and support should have sweeper/oracles.

morris11 votes

If I'm playing split pushers I'd much rather have blue wards to ward every possible place the enemy jungler could come from.

Your third mom1 votes

support with blue? not red?

Hyperiön1 votes

Meant to say Mid laner, need to fix, thanks for catching that.

Unpaladin1 votes

This was a decent argument until they annihilated said trinket in Season 6. Anyone who wants to invest in the best kind of ward as a mid or top laner (and jungler most of the time) literally can't without spending 800 Gold.

Naturally they would want someone else to do it, and if the support doesn't then I guess the ADC has to, good luck.

Hyperiön2 votes

Every person can place 3 wards correct. But Rito removed green wards, so you can only have 1 ward out on the map at a time.

Because item 3341 and item 3363 exist.

It is not solely the job of the support. but a sightstone is 100% required for supports. You can go full AP lux for all I care, just get a sightstone first.

Chamuel851 votes

I don't think that Riot'll ever really make appreciable changes to support to make them not the 'ward bot' and thus the community will never stop thinking of supports as such. I just immediately mute people who ask why there is no vision (I always get Sightstone because... well I wanna live too! lol)

Iwinatlife421 votes

appreciate Sight stone at least it combines with things or upgrades at least it isnt the days when support "build" was heart of gold philo stone and tons of wards. i love my item 2045 when I go full shield taric. item 3401 item 3190 item 3109 item 3050 Just try to kill my adc I DARE YOU

Ralanr1 votes

If my tank isn't building tanky or my ADC is missing an item that could help them win a fight (like anything that gives GW) I'll ask them why they don't have it.

I don't get the big deal at times. I tend to usually rush item 2303 ,item 2302 , or item 2301 . And if I'm a jungler that getting counter jungled a lot. I'd get item 3711 .

Z Statistic1 votes

wat

Why would you every buy those support items? They are all literally made for countering assassins.

Rákãñ1 votes

The only real two good active support items I would say are: item 3092 and item 3401 . The buff to face of the mountain is nice, the the C/D aren't always up for every trades or I have people that just run away with it. I rather combine the support item with the wards so I can have the extra space for items I can help the team more by being more tankier or utility items such as item 3107 ,item 3512 ,item 3060 , or even item 3056 for a good team dive. Which I tend to use when the turret built up enough damage to actually hurt the tanks or was re-targeted to one of our glass cannon carries.

Its a cheaper and efficient method than buying both.

Z Statistic1 votes

item 3069 is arguably the best active in the game after item 3157

Rákãñ1 votes

item 3069 Grants you and close by teammates a speed boost.

Vs

item 3092 Sends out 2 ghosts that search for close by champions, slows and grants vision on them.

item 3401 Grants you and a teammate a shielding power which explodes into a slow on nearby enemies.

Imho, I think the other two seems like better actives. But item 3069 is pretty good for a retreat if your team is incompetent for team-fights. I like the other two actives more, but I like the Ascension gold passive more though, which still maintains with item 2302 .

Z Statistic1 votes

Obviously you don't know the joy of kiting and making space or slingshotting that Master Yi right into the enemy team before they can disengage.

The active has become comparatively less useful over the years since so many other champions have the active or something like it on their ults, but honestly the speed boost is going to be able to let your teammates fall back from a diver or allow your tanks to use their engage at a different point in time.

Rákãñ1 votes

Well, I'll try it again if I reach higher elos. Because in bronze, no one really follows up with any coordinated plans. Which is main reason I liked when flex first game out there was higher elos in games. Which made coordination whole lot easier and fun. Heck, it was during the time I actually seen active pings that's not filled with salty spamming.

Z Statistic1 votes

Yeah, that's true. Utility is only powerful if your teammates aren't braindead.

Unpaladin1 votes

The Sight*stone has value WAY beyond what you think it's worth. If you don't build one you're going to get your ass kicked SO bad by those who do that it's no wonder your team will point it out to you. Anyone on your team can get some 1.5 second Stun ability or a damage mitigation spell, but who else can build something that regenerates THE BEST WARDS IN THE GAME? Only you and that one guy who sacrifices gank efficiency in the jungle.

You better do it. And if you dont, well you can be a concern for all those in the dumpster. I bet you guys are those bastards who never ward infront of dragon - I've seen you crop since season 6, don't you think I've forgotten about you. You monsters are ruining everything.
