The Solution to the Zed Problem

  1. Remove QSS' "remove all debuff" functionality (already being done for those who don't know)

  2. Greatly nerf Zed's ultimate damage (maybe 20%/25%/35% from 25%/35%/45%)

  3. Add a new passive to Zed's ultimate where if Q hits while Death Mark is applied, the mark % damage will be increased to 25%/35%/45% of damage dealt (the current damage)

Why I think this is a good solution:

  • It removes the overly-binary situation with Zed, where if the ADC doesn't have QSS, he's incredibly overwhelming and broken, and where if they do have QSS, he's essentially useless unless he's 1v1ing the ADC (and even then, some adcs can straight up duel him with qss)
  • It greatly reduces the threat of his annoying W+EQ + wait + W R E auto ignite combo in lane, since his Q will be on CD during the ult if he chooses this combo.
  • It demotes garbage Zed play, so if he jumps on you and just misses Q and autos you with death mark on, it's incredibly inefficient (previously this would easily kill most targets)
  • It promotes skilled Zed play. Skilled, opportunistic Zed players will still be able to do their job by correcting using their Q and managing it's cooldown properly
  • There is room for counterplay, AND counter-counter play. With QSS, you would use it as counterplay, and that was the end of it. There is little counter-counterplay from the Zed's perspective. With my proposed change, the counterplay is dodging his Q, by movement juking, using a dash, flashing, etc. The counter-counterplay is baiting or predicting the juke, or baiting the enemy into a position where he has little/no movement options to dodge it.

The only issues with zed are his manaless easy waveclear and poke, and his incredible safety.

still thinks its zeds ultimate which is the problem.... hint hint, its his Q range, speed, and cool down which is considerably better than most mage Q's.

too hard to code... riot is lazy.

Being a zed player, I honestly cannot wait for the QSS change. Mainly because maybe riot will look into maybe making his early game worse, which to be honest the hit to his W CD already kinda did. The reason it makes sense that QSS will no longer remove zed ult is because when he ults you, counter play exists through juking, sidestepping, any mobility abilities ect. Anybody that brings up "well what about malz, WW??" there is 0 counter play once they ult you. You yourself can do nothing when they ult you, so QSS is the only way you yourself can counter a malz or ww ult, whereas zed ults you, you are still in full control of your champ and thus you have counterplay available. In reality everyone complaining that in a 1v1 zed will instantly blow up a squishy adc with the adc having no chance of survival are just salty. in a 1v1 situation with an adc, an assassin SHOULD win. If an adc is farming bot lane alone and zed roams down and deletes the adc, well he just did his job. Allowing zed to actually be viable in late game now will allow riot to actually go in and tweak him alot more than they could before. Its almost like everyone QQ'ing about this QSS change makes it sound like QSS was designed to specifically counter zed, when in reality the item has so many uses when going against CC heavy comps
