Why is Galios recommended starting item with smite a corrupting potion?

Because you shouldnt be jungling galio? Also why wouldnt you start corrupting, galio packs enough punch you wouldnt need a jungle item right away. If you want to take one do it, otherwise follow the recommended. That simple.

some champions don't have recommended builds outside their intended roles.

then there are others like kassadin who had machete as recommended last time i checked.

For Yasuo with smite the same thing happens, Dorian's blade and pot is recommended

A lot of champions don't get proper recommended jungle starting items.

It's silly. It doesn't matter if the champ is made to jungle or not, if they picked smite, it should throw in a jungle starter.

Heck even if soraka has smite it should recommend a jungle starter item. There's no reason not to.

Try taking smite with Taric :) They did a good job with his rework, it's not perfect but they really considered his various playstyles.
