my take on an aatrox rework

i like aatrox but unfortanetly hes so lack luster in terms of his kit and just forgotten mainly for being a bit boring(not for me but for the majority of players). as it stand hes beaten in lane by most of the top meta and as a jungler is just a crapper version of any auto attack diver(eg xin, master yi).

Passive - remains if not getting a small buff

Q- Massacre - passive - aatrox abilties cause enemies to bleed for 5 seconds and leave behind a blood trail, which aatrox will gain 7/10/15/20/25% increased movement when traveling along. cooldown 30/27/25/20/15

Active - swings his blade in an arc in front of him dealing x dam + x% ad

W- passive- blood thirst- every third attack aatrox gains x hp + 2/3/4/5% of targets max hp( 50 % for minions)

active blood price - aatrox pays a portion of his hp to slam his blade into the ground dealing x aoe dam+x% ad ( the same radius as current dark flight) and pulling enemies afflcited by massacre towards his blade. (now becomes an ability with a cd rather than a toggle ability)

E- blades of torment - remains the same

R - the dark flight - after channeling aatrox will fill his blood well and take flight for 4/5/6.5 seconds gaining massive move speed and having the ability to move over terrain ( much like sols e except in a circular range and can be controlled)

aatrox can then activate r to land withing a 700 range of his current location dealing x aoe damage ( Acceptable range???)+x % ap(ad?)and knocking up all enemies within the area for 1 second. for each enemy knocked up aatrox will increase the blood well for 10/15/20% per enemy knocked up for 3 seconds . if he dies within 3 seconds and bloodwell is available he can gain a blood shield depending on how much bonus % was gained.

its only a kit idea so dont expect cooldowns or proper English/grammar and all that jazz because this is all the time i care to spend on it

Or we could make him into a support like malicious metal suggested /s

I think him becoming a pure support doesn't really sound like a good idea. Why is because, in his lore, he inspires his allies to fight by fighting himself. Which isn't a very supporty lore.

2 problems:

1: his E staying the same. With it being a janky skillshot right now, it's pretty difficult to land unless you're already on the target. I feel like it should at the very least be changed to be just a straight line skillshot.

2: his ultimate being his only gap closer. Really, just leaving champions who need mobility to engage fights without mobility until level 6 pretty much always leaves them in a weak spot. You could say the Q passive can function for this, but it's not a pure gap closer and is much better for chasing.

i find it not to difficult to land but being in a straight line would be better and would justify the ridiculous cd.

true but his q as a gap closer is pretty much dogshit anyway, way to high cd, clunky as an initiator and an escape because you slowly fligh up then jump down, small window of cc. he would have a fair bit of mobility with the blood trail mechanic and you could just have it at a flat 20% increase instead of scaling.

riot sure has their work cut out for them to revive this bad boy

They were initially planning to do the midseason 7 roster update as Divers, and to make him one of the larger scale reworks for that, but now it looks like they're leaning more towards doing Tanks and giving him that mini rework in just a normal patch, similar to how they did for Shyvana.

I posted something a little while ago that was just a suggestion for a passive on a pure vampire fighter champion, but as I mentioned in that post, it could also work on a rework for Aatrox. Damaging enemies with abilities generates Blood. Basic attacks consume Blood to heal.

I personally think that, with Aatrox's lore, he would fit as sorta like a support fighter. His lore has him be this almost godlike creature that appears in times of battle and sides with a side to send them all into a raging bloodlust, to the point where they don't even care about their own lives. I think Aatrox could be pretty interesting as a fighter designed around teamfights, specifically buffing his teammates and engaging. Right now, most Divers (Fiora, Riven, Camille, etc.) try to win lane and then carry by split pushing. If the enemy team sends people to deal with them, they cut them apart while their teammates get objectives elsewhere. If the enemy team doesn't, they knock down as many turrets as possible. I feel like Aatrox's future design should be a lot more based around his lore - he doesn't need to try to win lane and shouldn't split push, but he has an immensely powerful engage and can buff up his allies, like in his lore, making his late game teamfighting power make up for a lack of lane power. In this case, it can be justified to remove his Flight as a basic ability and change it to the ultimate, like you have, and make it much more powerful.

it would be an interesting concept.
