Always get flamed so hard for playing gnar jungle in ranked despite having an 100% win rate so far

I find gnar an insanely powerful champion and even more so in the jungle (at least late game) than as a top lane. He benefits hugely from the cinder hulk item and a final build can be a near guaranteed win for your team as long as they don't feed.

However i have had many people leave my games because i pick gnar jungle, a one person troll like mad for the majority of the game because it was "hopeless" as we had gnar jungle.

When he reslies we are actually winning his decided to play properly, but we nearly lost that game. I have people troll all the time in normals for this pick because apparently its troll!

Its OP as hell, if you can get a gank off in mega gnar form by jumping a wall and coming behind the enemy and smashing them to re spawn then its gg. Ofcouse that is rare but these opportunities come, despite that if you concentrate on farm and build perhaps. Merc treds, Cinderhulk, BOTRK, ramduens, spirit visage and depending on enemy team comp another defensive or maybe a last whisperer. Then gnar really kicks ass, i have won games not because of any huge skill advantage on the team but because the 30 min + plays i have been able to make with gnar. For example in the bush with turning full rage flash over the wall to zone the team half of team run other half get ulted into wall team finishes them its a 3v5 now go to nexus not strong enough champs remain to stop me tower diving in mega gnar form and head butting the turret down.

The plays you can make with him are seriously game changing, i have not lost one ranked game yet but i have not been able to play him as much as i would like. why? because apparently i am trolling. Is gnar a good champ to play jungle, or am i just lucky winning these games, because i think people in my teams have no idea what they are on about (those that think im trollling often turn out to be worst players in the team)

  1. How many games as Gnar JG.
  2. Rank?
  3. It's your choice whether you want to break Meta or not.

Never tried Gnar jungle, how do you keep your rage primed up to use on ganks instead of popping in the middle of red buff or something?

Ah only just noticed riot have put notifications x). Yes i am bronze its irrelevant though, because its for the late game plays and the scaling with cinder hulk which i think is really OP. I go life steal quints, Ad reds, armour yellows, and cdr blues, and the trick is to kite the camps, its really easy with gnar because the camp doest reset if u land a 3rd hit on your w. Also if the camp is about to reset you can just jump on the big monster and it will stop it. Much like TF being played in LCS as jungle with a similar strategy, gnar is also a champion with just enough attack speed and effective enough kit to abuse the soft resets in the jungle.

I often find that i am clearing a lot quicker than the enemy jungle, initially you are reliant on health pots, i go health crystal when i go first back and then a vamp sceptre for the sustain. If you time the ganks right it is proabably the most fun you can have on this game. Imagine having full rage coming into 2 enemy that are over exteneted, they see u and start to back off, however you just jump a minion flash ult them into the wall near the bushes, getting both bot laners and they are dead, not even a chance to flash. then you just walk off in to the jungle as mini gnar like "np".

But thats not even the peak of this, say i build..... BOTRK>LAST WHISPERER>CINDERHULK>SPIRIT VISAGE>MERC TREADS>RAMDUENS.... I will have around 5k maybe a bit more i cant remember health as mega gnar, and the damage from your kit is mega for is absolutely OP.

Im climbing ranks quick, and its obviously going to be easier as im against many noobs. However i think that in higher elos, the plays just have to be better. I think ultimately aslong as you get the complete surprise element of the flash jump ult with out the being able to react quick enough (and belive me this combo is one of the quickest in the game) then the plays can be made, nevertheless having a late game monster, with loads of cc, loads of damage and loads of tankiness is really a huge asset. Also you force the team to deal with you because of your strength, however in dealing with you they are wasting their kit on trying to shut you down when they shud be shutting down the adc or apc etc. it brings a dynamic that is really irritating for the enemy.

I think when people realise how effectively you can clear as gnar, it will be a much bigger deal for him in the jungle. Top lane he is good because of the gold lead and being able to run TP, but top lane you mega gnar is wasted, as people just run away as soon as they see the rage. Being able to jungle with him means you can really utilise his rage bar and ram it down the enemy's throats.

If you are in higher elos and want to try this, my advice is, you ward and pot heavily initially, as the enemy jungle will want to use the weak early your obviously going to have against you. If you lack early game presence but are keeping up with farm this is fine and its all about the late. If you near full rage and your camping a bush waiting to jump ult the enemy, bot lane for example. Dont give up like you would a typical jungler and go and farm if the gank isnt working out. Your mega gnar form is actually quite ineffective for clearing most camps, as you are taking damage and the clear time wont be much different. Ideally use your rage for ganks, and your mini gnar for kiting buffs and all melee camps. Also just showing a presence as mega gnar jumping about a bush may burn a flash or two, and its good to show this as it will scare the enemy maybe helping you lane.

Please try it its the most fun thing to do on this game IMO, if you have trouble with the camps, just look up a video on how to kite the jungle, i think the camps have 3 soft resets before a hard reset. As gnars base AS is enough, i think he stops the soft resets completely, but every time the monster turns towards the back of the camp slightly, thats a soft reset, its health wont go up or at least not noticeably as you are attacking it, but just watch for the 3rd time it does this, then i usually jump on its head to get it to attack me again, by this point its half health and you just repeat for a clear with out taking any damage (maybe one hit)

I noticed this was played in LCS recently, they didnt win, but they also didnt jungle him correctly (coming from a bronze LOL) but seriously, they did not kite gnar effectively. I can clear the whole jungle, off start items, just 2 pots, i can take the whole jungle and i can do it in 6:50 which is good for gnar, i may post a video showing this.

Also, to answer strawberrycocoa... Its not about waiting for rage then committing to a gank, the ganks are few and far between, as mega, but thats not the point. If you have to clear red as mega, then you do that. But its about knowing the camps and knowing the champ, for example, i have to clear red with mega..... and i want mega for a bot lane gank as they are over extending..... so i then go to golems, i get half rage from there, and i finish it with the scuttle crab to give full rage again.

The scuttle crab is you best friend, this is so helpful for taking you up in rage (you dont have to kill it just use it for the hits)

Also you dont have to gank as mega gnar, your boomerang is a slow, you jump can be use to get in front of the enemy. He is effective in this form aswell, he is just super effective as mega gnar.....

2 jungle gnar games, one won and one lost (9/40, ouch)

50 mins in on your won jungle gnar game and you don't have full build?

Honestly I've tried jungle Gnar, its pretty bad. And it doesn't really offer anything that others don't.

It offers very little for the majority of the game, its just the late game potential, with the cinder hulk he is really strong. You can do this top however, it makes much more sense
