Ancient Coin Now gives 50 mana No longer gives 5% cooldown reduction
Is this some kind of joke? Ancient coin statistically isn't the best staring item option on ANY SINGLE CHAMPION IN THE GAME. Not on Soraka. Not on Rakan. Not on Alistar. NOONE
So you remove the only useful stat it has in lane and replace it with 50 FUCKING MANA? If you want noone to buy this item, just remove it from the game.

All those champions have horrendous mana pools and relatively high mana costs. They love having some more mana, because this means one more spell cast before 100% oom, while at the same time also increasing the value of the mana coins AND the meditation mastery. CDR early is nice, but so is having mana. More CDR does nothing for you if using your spells at a higher cadence means you'll run oom instead.

It is not. Ever. The permanent shield and HP on Relic Shield is 1000000000000x better on Taric than some dumpy elixir and mana regen.

I don't build him as the super tank since his rework. Taric has ridiculous mana problems in lane this may be the answer. We will need to wait and see

Taric has mana problems that are easily solved by an early Glacial Shroud. What Taric needs to be building are Armor and MR items, and the bulk of those items for him don't afford him much HP, which he needs to be effective.
Most core builds on Taric use Frozen Heart/Iceborn Gauntlet, Locket of the Iron Solari, neither of which offer him HP. Seeing as he also is required to have a Sightstone, gold income item, and Boots, that leaves 1 slot left for a miscellaneous item, which ideally is Knight's Vow or Randuin's Omen, or possibly Zz'Rot depending on needs. All in all, that leaves a grand total of 1 absolute core item (Sightstone) that gives him HP, and possibly the extra slot item.
Because of his build needs, it is absolutely critical that he get Face of the Mountain, not only for the HP, but also to push him towards more CDR. Without Face of the Mountain, Taric struggles to break 2500 HP, and for armor and MR to be useful, you need the bulk to back it up. This is why Talisman isn't a good pick for Taric - it simply doesn't offer him enough durability to make him functional beyond laning. A little mana blip in the lane is not enough of a trade off for late game durability, a recharging shield, and a double shield active.

Daetnas1 votesAlso I'd just like to reiterare that there are NO champions in the game that coin is the best starting option on (as far as I checked on lolalytics, and I looked up quite a few candidates.)
And these slight changes will achieve nothing to make it competitive against spellthiefs.
If they added 50 mana IN ADDITION to the 5% CDR it still wouldn't make this item good.
