Alright so I've read a post about Gnar and his cancerous must-by item (Frozen Mallet). Before reading that post I laned against him as Kled and I destroyed him in lane. Idk if that Gnar had any experience playing the champion, but I want tips just in case I laned against a better Gnar.
Frozen Mallet is not a must buy on Gnar.
When Gnar has half his rage bar you need to decide if you can kill him or not in a fight otherwise he will kill you most of the time and stuff. If you ever get the jump on Gnar early when he is mini most champions will beat him every time. If he gets ahead early and you jump on him you have to be prepared to fight it out completely otherwise he will just kite you out a little, take your damage, and chase you down after you decide to back off. So in early lane if you can get to Gnar you will most likely out trade him.
Late game just make sure you don't group up to much if he is about to transform.
