Gold Reward

Is the reward at the end of the season based off current rank at the end or the highest you actually achieved?

Kinda hope it is the former because the later kinda discourages continued play do to risk of demotion and loss of the reward.

I understand the risk isn't that big but we all get into "those" games and kinda makes the grind not worth just to have bragging rights.
