My opinion about the current balance state [No QQ]

**Disclaimer: ** Disclaimer: In this thread I'll express my opinion about the current balance state of the game. Before downvoting me, don't forget I don't belong in a balance team. It's just my opinion, so treat it as such. Thanks.

Note: English isn't my mother language. I hope my text will be understandable. If not, report it to me please.

ALL BRUISERS who have % armor penetration on one spell will be replaced by flat armor penetration. * CONTEXT: Now offtank can still murder tanks, but they need more time or buy some item to counter them (item 3035, item 3071, item 3142 )*

Anivia GENERAL:

  • Increase base mana regen

CONTEXT: In S4, Anivia used to have a very strong identity: a champion with a lot of weakness (super squishy, slow and so on) but a very big strenght; she was one of the best pusher in the game. Normally, you just wanted to buy two of these items for sustain item 3174 item 3040 item 3027 and push the lane. However, in S5, if she tries to push her lane with R->Q, she'll run OOM super quickly being useless. Now, she need all three items, so spend 8700g to do her job. Now, IMO, there's no reason to play her.

Brand **BLAZE ** Now deals flat damage + %AP

CONTEXT: Brand's spells scale with AP, so she's supposed to build AP. However, his Blaze scales just with magic penetration. So, if he build magic penetration, he doesn't waste his passive, but his spells deal a bit less damage. If he builds AP, his Blaze doesn't do that much. I would like his kit and his build path to be coherent and clear, so he wastes no parts of his kit.

**SEAR: ** Projectile speed increased

CONTEXT: League of assassins

Cassiopeia **TWIN FANG: ** decrease the mana costs **NOXIOUS BLAST: ** increase the mana costs and refund a % of it, if she hits a champion.

CONTEXT: Now Cassio is punished, if she doesn't hit her NOXIOUS BLAST or use it just to zone his enemy, and rewarded, if she hits it.

Heimerdinger

H-28Q Apex Turret: Now H-28Q Apex Turret's damage and especially HPs will scale better into late game, so it can't be destroyed so easily with summoner 11 + any skill. Really, I feel so useless when I play him just for it.

Galio GENERAL:

  • Increase his base AD
  • Decrease his AD per level CONTEXT: Galio is a melee mage who has a very hard time last hitting in mid lane. He need some help to do it in early game.

RESOLUTE SMITE: Enemy champions hit by Resolute Smite are marked. The next Galio's AA will deal additional magic damage. CONTEXT: Galio can't help his team outside using his ultimade. He just use his spells an AA his enemies. He need a more interesting mechanics. This change won't help him in lane because he can't AA his opponent for free

RIGHTEOUS GUST: Decrease the mana costs at earlier levels, but normalize it at later levels. CONTEXT: It deals low damage and his mana costs are pretty high

JarvanIV

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/4W5KAnkE-tanks-vs-offtank

LeeSin

He does what he pleases.

Lux

LUCENT SINGULARITY: Decrease the mana cost just bit.

Malzahar

I didn't play him in S5. He was fine with double doran's, but now I don't know. His mana costs always was insane.

Mordekaiser

CREEPING DEATH: Now Mordekaiser or an ally unit gains movimenet speed.

CONTEXT: RIP DFG

Swain

QoL CHANGES:

  • Increase his AA projectile speed
  • If Swain uses Ravenous Flock, an icon will inform him how much mana he has spend (considering also his Carrion Renewal give him mana back).

Volibear

ROLLING THUNDER:

  • Moving leaves a path behind that boosts allied champion's movement speed by a %.
  • Increase his bonus moviment speed when moving toward champions just a bit

CONTEXT: I love this champion, but, hell, how he's bad. Yes, he has good damage early game, but he has none in late game, CCs make him so useless. In teamfight He gives no contribution. It's not fun at all (stressful I would say). I find he needs major changes to be viable.

Zed **CONTEMPT FOR THE WEAK: ** Doesn't work with minions. CONTEXT: He have to have an hard time farming like Talon.

RAZOR SHURIKEN: No more static cooldown: higher CD at early levels. CONTEXT: Farming with him is so easy. Just use your Q until level 6 and delete the enemy laner. And If the enemy laner approach him, he just W->E->Q and goes back and wait for his CD to farm with his Q. (Again) He have to have an hard time farming like Talon. Give his opponent one occasion to harass him.

**ABOUT OTHER CHAMPIONS: **I didn't mention a lot of champion, but I doesn't mean that I find them balanced. Maybe I just don't play them.

This comment is so smart... Why don't you like my changes? Defend your point of view, instead of saying just "No".

This is obvious a troll post. One of the many but why in the name of god would you buff heimer. He's fine. No. Why.

Thanks for calling me troll. Really, I wasted my time to translate my opinion to your language and you call me troll... I could understand why you don't want Heimer to be buffed. No explanation is needed. What about the other champions I mentioned?

  1. The tool-tip for swain. Riot is making the game easier, why would you want to make it even MORE. 2. Lee sin, He is a problematic jungler at the moment (many posts). 3. The brand passive, you're going to build a liandrys and a void staff anyways and melt faces, that change would make him way overpowered to the point where he is doing the amount you said was the base (true dmg) and the ap combined.

Yeah I agree. His early game is mad, but don't forget he's uselss outside laning phase (well often; it depends on your comp)

About Swain: Yea, that was just an idea. A lot of people was speaking about it on the board and I just wanted to give them my approval writing here.

About Brand: I know, but I was talking about early game. I never said It could be a buff for him. Just the same damage, but now I don't need to rush item 3136 each game and aim for item 3135 in mid game directly. Mh... maybe my explanation wasn't clear. I don't speak English perfectly.

About Lee: There're a lot of QQ about him. My thread would sound just repetetive.

About the other champions: opinions?

I'm not dissecting every champion you listed. For you have already done it.

Why would anyone specifically object to a clarity change? "I don't want this game to be more comprehensible" is a ridiculous attitude.

60cG25XEnH1 votes

How is it a clarity change when you can see your mana bar (It's right below your hp bar) j/s.

How is it a clarity change when you can see your mana bar (It's right below your hp bar) j/s.

Because it's another indicator? Your mana bar isn't static while your ult is on, it's affected by your mana regen as well as other spells you're using, your passive, etc. I'm not saying it's totally unclear how much mana his ult is using but there's literally no reason to not want an indicator. "It's clear enough already" doesn't mean anything when there's no downside to adding in an indicator.

Just nerf too mobile "muh playz" and the overloaded kit nonsense (instead of going around aimlessly like this),

Suddenly game is fresh again.

I mean why can't they just do it? Oh that reason, "That" Reason.

Dang.

EDIT: And also give us actual ranged vs melee differences, instead of telling us "hey you know, ranged is kinda just better".

Thanks for the comment, dude.

However, you should contextualize your comment. Are you speaking about Zed? What do you think about the other champions I mentioned?

SEKAI1 votes

The only champions I have trouble with and are also on your list:

Anivia - Personally she is a fine champ, completely fine but I think there is something wrong in her kit's math or something. She could still 1 shot adc with 36 AP with just an E, which did happen in one of the only games I saw her so I dunno what's with that (she was supp).

JarvanIV & LeeSin - I will bracket these 2 guys together since they pose the exact same issue to the game currently. They are too good, so they're pushing everybody out. J4 is kinda sometimes there and sometimes he isn't, his kit doesn't possess that much problem by itself but he really does too much damage despite building nearly or completely full tank, all he needs is some tweaks here and there and he could become the best example of a mobile bruiser imo.

Lee while on the other hand, is pure cancer, he needs to be reworked as his fundamental design philosophy is completely flawed, because he is MEANT to be made to do everything. I mean wat, you bloody WAT. Having a kit THAT loaded doesn't raise the skill Floor, it in fact lowers it as now he practically has 0 risk whatsoever, then he gets high skill cap so he is very, VERY versatile in all team comp, he doesn't ever, EVER need to worry about being counterpicked, counterbuilt or counterplayed. Then on top of all that he has the POWER spike to keep everyone out of his level. WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA? Seriously, no, just No.

Then we have Zed who is literally a better version of Talon in every possible way. He is manaless, he has endless mobility, waveclear, 1 shot and guarantee escape afterwards. So all in all, he is literally a less extreme version of Lee Sin in the assassin category but is still pretty bad, as he is also now for some reason made into an assassin who does his job well (which I really do appreciate) then gets a shiet ton of things that don't belong in his kit, what's with the waveclear and guarantee escape part, ON AN ASSASSIN? NO!

Zed like Lee Sin has low skill floor, high skill cap which makes him problematic since well this isn't say an rpg or shooter, but at least there is still ways to counterbuild and counterpick (don't bother with the counterplay part it's impossible like Lee) him so that ain't too bad right? Wrong. Because Riot balances him with the fact you, or anyone needs to rush a Zhonya to even survive him in lane doesn't matter how safe you play, your build be damned.

So yer, I do agree with you that Riot's balancing really REALLY isn't in a good spot atm, it's a complete mess right now.

This was a detailed answers.

About Anivia: Yeah at level 2 she deals insane amount of damage. In fact: CHILLED DAMAGE: 110 / 170 / 230 / 290 / 350 (+ 100% AP).

I think that Rito balance team has a lot of work with Lee, J4 and Zed. They'll be perma pick/ban in competitive play until balanced.

Anivia's Q and E can both deal 2x damage at level 2. 230+2.0 AP. So it'll deal about 302 dmg at level 2.

As to the OP's argument, she still only needs 2 of the 3 mana items. She just doesn't get a choice about which two- item 3027 item 3040 are the only options these days. Not that I would oppose a buff to her base mp/5, i'd love it.

I wonder how many of these champs do you actively play. Seriously, this seems like a huge troll thread, but seeing as you want input as to WHY this is a troll thread, here is a quick rundown.

Anivia : This defeats the point. I play anivia pretty regularly, and she is balanced around the mana gate. They even lowered said gate, and she is really powerfull still. There is no need for any changes to her IMO. She has a solid playstyle with one very obvious weakness. Taking it away or even diminishing it is a very dangerous thing to do.

Brand : has a lot of problems, but this would likely hurt him, not help him. You should be building pen on him anyways, after all his base damage is pretty good.

Cassiopeia : hahahahahahahahahahaha, no. Her twin fang is so overloaded right now, and she is already rewarded for landing noxious blast due to her twin fang mechanics. it's like you don't even play this champion.

Heimerdinger : if you have issues with people smiting your Apex turret, then you have a whole host of issues. Heimer needs no buffs, as the health on his normal turrets already scales over 1000 HP lategame if built right. That is 1000 HP they AREN'T hitting your team with, and that is also only the normal turrets. The Apex should easily clock over 2000. This buff would make his turrets nigh on unkillable. As a heimer fan, I am insulted.

Galio : interesting, but after these changes, I don't see him changing significantly. The only change here even worth really examining is the decreased mana gate. He isn't too popular right now because he is pigeoned into a MR item (chalice) and is usually sent top. I would like to see his gate getting lowered, but other than that if galio even gets 1 step ahead he becomes a raid boss in an of himself. I would rather he get a whole kit overhall, he kinda needs it.

JarvanIV : He needs rito to decide what he actually is, and then be balanced around that. He is a little lite on the CC to be a true tank IMO, but I can see it being done.

Lux : I keep seeing her pop up. I'm gonna have to play her before I place judgment, as I haven't touched her since S3, but honestly I don't think she is in a bad spot. She is incredibly safe and has always had a bit of a mana gate to keep her in line.

Malzahar : If you don't know, I wouldn't have put him up here. I haven't really played him, so I won't really comment either.

Mordekaiser : He needs to be redesigned. I'm sorry morde fans, but he is one of those champs that just needs to be ENTIRELY relaunched, as everything about him is horribly out of date.

Swain : No to the AA range, because that would only bring AD swain forth for abuse. Trust me, that Debuff is insane. As for the Icon, I would find it pointless, but others may not.

Volibear : no, he is actually fine. Pretty strong all game long, though he does trail off a little late game. However, for how good his early game is, he needs to.

Zed : he has a host of problems, and honestly is overtuned. That said, these changes look like the old method of riot balance. Nerfs everywhere to hopefully hit the problem, usually either ineffective if they don't actually hit the issue, breaks the champion over Morellos knee if it does. Seriously, this is not good balance. This is throwing darts in the general direction of the target and hoping one of them lands dead center.
