Name two skills that are mechanically identical to each other

There are a lot of similar abilities in League of Legends. But can any of you name two that are mechanically identical? Bet you can't!

Only mechanically. Damage type and resource cost doesn't count. Also, things like Ashe's slow is part of her passive, even though her W applies it.

Edit: "mechanically" includes any bonus effect other than damage, such as slows, heals, resource restoration or passives tacked on (e.g. Darius' ArPen on his E).

Annie's Incinerate and Mordekaiser's Siphon of Destruction are very mechanically similar. Cones that deal damage, with their extra effects through the champions' respective passives. The only points where they differ are cooldown, damage and cone width.

Other than that, other similar spells have other differences. Vel'koz' E and Cho'gath's Q are similar, but Cho'gath's has a slow attached. Gragas' Q and Lux's E are similar, but Lux's slow happens while the light ball is still there whereas Gragas' slow happens with the damage.

OH, almost forgot. Kennen's Q, Brand's Q, Ryze's Q and Urgot's Q are all mechanically similar with only different cooldowns, damages and ranges/missile sizes. Linear skill shots that stop at the first target struck, and only have extra effects through the champ's abilities.

You have a different definition of "Mechanically Identical" than I do.

To me, that means that two skills have the same targetting, effected area, and "trigger".

To me, Mundo and Ezreal's Q are identical skills:

Both are line skillshots that hit one unit, and reward the user upon hitting them--beyond effecting the target, that is.

Mundo gets HP and Ezreal gets his cooldowns reduced, sure.

But to me, those two skills are the same.

re: Brand and Urgot: I think those are the same because Brand's is really part of his innate.

If you look at Shyvana, her texts used to be sorted that way (bonus effects were listed as her innate and not under each ability). Which... is how Brand's passive works.

Urgot has a reward on-kill effect; which is a trigger condition that none of the other three have, sure. e_e"

[I think this idea is flawed. Nobody has the same definition of "mechanically identical", therefore what is to one is not to another.]

Tristana's Rocket Jump and Khazix's evolved Leap are almost identical. Both are long ranged dashes which reset on kill, with the only difference being the type of damage and the scaling.

Other examples:

Velkoz's ult and MissFortune's ult (both are AoE channeled abilities; Miss Fortune is more reliable, but Vel'Koz deal more damage)

Karthus's E and Fiddlesticks's ult (both are AoE abilities that deal damage over time; Fiddlesticks deal far more damage with his ult, but it only lasts for a short duration, compared to Karthus)

Blitzcrank's Q and Thresh's Q (both are abilities who stun and grab an enemy; the difference is that Thresh's Q is harder to land and is not instant, but due to how Thresh's kit works, he can choose to bring the enemy to him, unlike Blitz; this can be helpful in case that Thresh acidentally grab a dangerous tank initiator)

Fiora's ult and MasterYi's Q (both are abilities who can hit multiple enemies and make both champions untargetable; the difference is that Fiora's ult is on a far higher cooldown, but deals a lot more damage, in addition to applying on hit effects, so it applies lifesteal and other potentially helpful effects. Master Yi deals a lot less damage but it is on a much lower cooldown, that can be further lowered by auto-attacks, so it can be used more often, in addition to be able to be used on minions and monsters)

Sivir Q and Ahri Q. both Boomerang skill shots.

Also, since it was fixed: Lux E, Gragas Q, Ziggs E

Every single targeted ability is the same. Click a button to do instant damage to the opponent. Or do you mean something else by mechanically?

gnar, vayne and how many other champs with 3-hit wonder abilities?

most dash abilities are near the same range unless they're intentionally larger

lux and morgana's Q

too many different things

they are working with a limited game engine though, for instance, 3D characters on a 2d environment, but i'm glad for that because otherwise we'd all need another gigahertz of cpu power and way better graphics cards

Both are targeted abilities that apply a mark to one target that can be detonated. Both have similar range.

Also

Khazix Kha'Zix E Tristana Tristana W

Both are long range dashes that can be CC'd half way through, both also get resets on kills or assists and additionally both deal AOE damage in a similar range when you land.

Ezreal's Q: A line skillshot with a bonus for hitting it. (besides damage)

Mundo's Q: A line skillshot with a bonus for hitting it. (besides damage)

Mechanically these two are the same. :/

There are plenty of things like this.

It's just that their bonus changes. :V
