Yorick's Mistwalkers apply grievous wounds

I just played a game as Dr. Mundo vs Yorick in the top lane. Long story short, I got wrecked because Yoricks mistwalkers apply grievous wounds if Yorick has a mortal reminder or executioner's calling.

I was wondering why I lost lane so hard and then I looked at Yoricks items. He had a mortal reminder (the item with the passive that causes grievous wounds) and I then I closely watched what was going on in our small exchanges. Yorick would E me, and then his mistwalkers would jump on me hit me once or twice. I'd kill all of them quickly but then I noticed the grievous wounds symbol over my head and then I realized that every time I would fight Yorick I was basically under perma grievous wounds and I was misjudging how all our previous fights went down.

My question is, why is this an interaction and should it be an interaction? Because his mistwalkers dont apply rylais slow, life steal, or other on hit effects, so why is grievous wounds special?

Because item 3033 applies grievous wounds from all physical damage sources. As long as its physical dmg, it applies it instantly; pretty annoying, I know.

Mistwalkers deal physical damage. Executioner/Reminder triggers on physical damage. Therefore, Mistwalkers trigger Executioner/Reminder.

Black Cleaver is also applied with his mistwalkers, but I think it's fine primarily because every other juggernaut has some stupidly good ability,

Olaf has his ult

Volibear Has his bite

Darius Ult that resets upon killing

DrMundo too tanky ffs and has a rapid healing ability

Garen True damage on whoever's marked a villain and basically has a built in black cleaver

Nasus Wither is literally spammable

Mordekaiser Gets a fucking dragon

Trundle Has a crazy good ult

Udyr All his abilities barely cost any mana if any at all.

Sion an EXTREMELY powerful ult when it lands

Yorick his mistwalkers apply black cleaver and mortal reminder

Illaoi heals whenever she bitch-slaps you with a tentacle

All in all, when you think about it, every juggernaut has some stupid broken-ass part of their kit.

item 3116 used to apply on minion hits, did they change it?

There's lots of cases with Grevious Wounds working with crazy physical damage methods. I'd even argue this case is nothing to worry about; You get a movement speed bonus on your ultimate to help you from taking the E while you heal, and them cutting off half of your passive (during the time the walkers are hitting you) can just be considered a bit of extra damage taken. It's already an item that depends on the passive to get the most out of the purchase, it's just that he was smart in choosing it so you take more of a hit.

There's also how if Yorick can hit you with his E then he can most certainly get on top of you. Since Mortal Reminder applies with every physical attack, you'd likely be under Grevious Wounds a lot of the time against most champions anyways.
