Katarina Support (Vs Thresh!!!!!!) Wow...
Kat support? After Valkrin, the challenger player, rekt house with his diamond smurf with video evidence, it is important to evaluate the choice, and the niche cases perhaps, it would be effective.
Personally, I am in gold, and I ALWAYS run Katarina support into a thresh in the bot lane. There are often 3-5 factors that, when combined, I decide not to, even with a thresh, but in almost all situations, kat is a great support against thresh on the opposing team.
The reason has to do with Thresh's kit. He Has a hook that can't hit you, since you have a Shunpo that instantly flashes you away from harm, so this ability is pure trash against kat. In the cases he does hit you, you can still instantly Shunpo away. His W and ult are also basically canceled due to Shunpo. You will never die due to your opponents good plays, only due to your own massive mistakes.
Other than Kat vs thresh, Kat is a reasonable support in general as long as your team is down with it, and your comp needs even a little bit of ap, or has great engage already. Kat has ridiculous base damage on her ultimate, which targets both bottom lane champions, and Katarina really doesn't need farm. Having said that, Kat support has weaknesses too.
Pros:
- OP vs Thresh 2.Super Fun
- Roaming potential at 6
- Rhylais + Liandries for blanket CC, great on Kat
- Usually deal the 2nd most damage on the team
- Sightstone for mobility and wards
- Resets in teamfights
- Opponents can't help but target you, and blow all of their abilities on the support (esp in bronze/silver)
- Another shunpo target in lane, with teammate.
- Good poke early game
- Works well with relic shield or spelltheifs edge.
- Good scaling
Cons:
- Team may rage at you/not let you play it
- Bad Adc's sometimes want CC
- Team will blame you for the loss
- You can get reported often, even when fed and in wins (In ranked)
- No cc early, no hard cc late.
- Can be bad with ADC's that don't have a gap closer
- Bad in some compositions 8.Tilts your own team
- Not the best sustain in lane
