What went wrong with Blood Moon

It is a well known fact that a lot of players are unhappy with the current state of meta, people tryharding in games etc.

So naturally when Riot released a Gamemode without any defensive items, and with only a bunch of assassins available, a lot of people where happy about the prospect of relaxing and just going completely ham for once. No thoughts about minions, turrets, inhibs, rotations, build paths, just people outplaying each other. Simply put: Team Deathmatch.

However, for some reason they decided to implement a mechanic into the Gamemode that allowed a single Shaco player win the entire game by doing nothing but camping in the enemy jungle and clearing all of the wraiths.

What is the point of having a fun carefree Team Deathmatch, if you are going to implement a mechanic that allows people to tryhard, ensuring the mode decays after about 2 days of going live. The same thing that happened to Urf, One for all, Poroking, etc...

How about a mode where the only thing that counts towards victory is kills? Is that too much to ask?

Honestly it's just the lack of champion choice. 20 is WAY too fucking slim of a champion pool, ESPECIALLY considering the omissions that were made to it, and the champions that somehow made it in (Kennen? What the fuck?). Yet champions who practically ARE assassins now weren't allowed in. Wukong, Quinn, Graves, like what the actual fuck? They don't get in but Kennen and (FUCKING) Pantheon? He's a bruiser for fuck sake!
