building AP/ attack damage supports tanky

For supports like blitzcrank I dont understand why we shouldnt use a build like, item 3027 item 3116 item 3151 item 3075 item 3068 item 3111 .

It gives him around 350 AP, almost 3500 health, 150 armor, that does damage.

Its a hell of alot better than starting with item 3401 . Sure you might take some of your AD carry's kills but that is still a hell of alot better than letting the enemy team get a double kill and win lane which is usually what happens when the enemy team has an unskilled Soraka Sona .

Btw this build would also apply to the other tanky supports.

If you're playing Blitzcrank and you lose lane to Soraka or Sona, they aren't the unskilled ones here.

I dont lose to sona and soraka unless my ADC gets mad and intentionally feeds. Im saying even soraka and sona could go AP TANK

Not the way you phrased it.

You're talking about how to build Blitzcrank and then say "Sure you might take some of your AD carry's kills but that is still a hell of alot better than letting the enemy team get a double kill and win lane which is usually what happens when the enemy team has an unskilled [champions]"

Completely implies that it's easy to lose to those two as Blitzcrank when you build him the usual way.

Because they're too expensive for support to afford early. You can still go them. No one's gonna stop you from building those items.

What happens if full AP Blitzcrank hooks an enemy? They die. What happens if tanky support Blitzcrank hooks an enemy? They still die.

What else does tanky support Blitzrank provide to his team? Better vision control, a beefier body to block skillshots, one fewer squishy targets for enemy assassins and burst mages, auras that reduce enemy damage through Locket of the Iron Solari and/or Frozen Heart, actives that protect more valuable team members in their time of need like Locket and Face of the Mountain... What else does full AP Blitzcrank provide to his team? Nothing.

Thats not true, Tanky AP Blitzcrank with 2 armor items and a ton of health is still very viable.

Viable, sure. But still strictly worse than building tanky support.

The only thing that stops supports from building damage items is the cost itself.

There's actually nothing wrong with going full AP, but if you're not providing anything for your team then that's the problem. For example, if your team is full of damage-oriented squishies and you are still building damage, then you're not providing anything for your team. Supports often go off-tank not only because they can live longer to peel and do their jobs, but because they can do a lot with less gold.

Rod of Ages gives him a little bit of everything he needs, but the Rylai's Crystal Staff is overkill. Liandry's Torment is pointless on him, because it's an item meant for champions like Nautilus, Brand, or Malzahar who nickel and dime their magic damage. Thornmail is a situational item, useful only if one or more enemy champions are basic attack dependent. If you're fighting mostly mages or casters, then you should reconsider your build.

A lot of your damage will come from power fist, if you play your cards right. Iceborne Gauntlets are a good idea on him, as his power fist is an on-hit effect, the gauntlets give 20% CDR, and you get a hefty amount of armor on the side. Power Fist doubles his attack damage, so combine a single high damage item, namely Maw of Malmortius, with the Gauntlets and other defensive/CDR items. You can dish out a power first roughly once every four seconds at max level and CDR; good for disrupting enemy champions when you're in melee, and good for punching down turrets.

Basically, count how much Gold that is to Build.

Now, my Braum gets about 10.5K Gold a Game. My Leona is about 12.75K Gold. My Thresh is about 13.5K Gold.

Apparently, or so I'm told, I get way more Gold than 'most supports', a really good Support for his Elo that brought this up gets about 9K to 9.75K Gold per Game.

So while in theory the Build is okay, and in SOME instances would even be down right OP... you can't afford it, especially since you skipped the Gold Item in the beginning.

Now, things like ONE Item can be done. Try The Black Cleaver on Leona. Still gives HP, gives 20% CDR so you can have your Abilities up to Chain CC more often, and 50 Attack Damage on a diving tank engage who uses a lot of Basic Attacks in a Team Fight adds up.

But THEN add the Passive... you are dropping Armor, so your Team can melt a Front Line faster. YOU do more damage with each hit as more of your AD gets through, and your AD Assassins, AD Bruisers/Fighters, and especially your ADC get a buff in Damage with each hit you lay.

Helps you, helps the team. Are other Items BETTER on Leona? Yes. Absolutely. But if you are going to go 'off-script', The Black Cleaver is a solid choice, and it's only ONE Item at 3,100 Gold. So if you are crushing it, you'll be able to add that 1 Item with your Boots, Sight Stone and other 2 to 3 Support Items fairly easily.

Another one that works for Supports is Wit's End. For example, I give you Braum. The faster he attacks, the faster he Stacks, the faster things getting Stunned. I'm not saying Build Attack Speed, I'm saying Build Support Tank, but ADD a Wit's End. He gets More Tank vs. AP Mages and Assassins with every hit, and he makes everyone he hits Weaker to your AP Mage or Assassin.

So you get More Stacks for More Stuns, and you get More MR for yourself and you GIVE your AP guys easier targets to delete because they are (1) Stunned and (2) losing MR every hit so they take more from your guys.

Again, way better items than Wit's End for Braum... but it's affordable and can fit in WITH a Support Build.

But notice the key.... you STILL need the Main Support Build.

Also, your 'Support' doesn't have a Sight Stone... so I call that Build 'Invalid' already.
